"Ding-ding." The oven's alert sounded from the kitchen.
Hearing the sound, Rainbow and Daphne instantly turned their heads towards the kitchen, and then looked at David Jones, as if urging him.
"I'll get it for you," David said, getting up.
The medium-sized tiger-striped fish was about a meter long after removing its head.
The freshly roasted fish skin was slightly charred and shrunken, revealing some tender white flesh beneath. The plate was also sprinkled with purple acid fruit and red-tongue leaves that David added last.
This simple roast fish not only looked appealing but also carried an irresistible aroma.
The purple acid fruit and red-tongue leaves were gradeless herbs David had found in Lolo's Herbal Space. They tasted somewhat like chili peppers, but they were more stimulating for pet creatures' taste buds.
"Where's the fish head?" Rainbow asked with a hint of disappointment on her face.
For her, eating fish without the head meant missing half the flavor.
