Chapter 9 - Chapter 5: City of Zombie Beasts _2

The Mossy Mushroom tilted its head, appearing somewhat perplexed.

However, Ree Shil didn't respond to it, for he had already been transported into the Instance.

A sense of weightlessness descended, and he found himself rapidly falling within the darkness.

Having had experience before, he wasn't flustered, and sure enough, a blue light screen soon appeared before his eyes.

「Survival Challenge 1: Survive 24 hours in the City of Zombie Beasts―0/1」

「Complete Challenge 1 to get a card draw chance」

「And unlock Survival Challenge 2」

Right after he finished reading, his vision flashed.

"Have I arrived?"

He felt the sensation of his feet touching solid ground and opened his eyes.

The place where he found himself appeared to be inside an unfinished Apartment Building where construction had stopped.

All around was the hue of cement, coupled with rusted steel bars scattered everywhere, it had a desolate feel to it.

"Where's the Zombie Beast?"

He didn't feel scared, instead, he went to the nearest window and started observing.

This was Floor Two, the external sky was gloomy, and the construction site surrounded by metal sheets seemed very quiet.

However, the dried blue light liquid stains on the ground indicated what had previously transpired here to some extent.

Due to the obstruction from the buildings, he couldn't see the outside street.

"WAH! Ah, ah, ah, Ahhhh― Cute Mushroom!"

Just then, a sudden scream from the Mossy Mushroom came from upstairs.

"What's going on."

He raised an eyebrow.

But after just stepping out of the room, about to go through the Grand Hall, he immediately halted in his tracks.

Because he had abruptly see a human figure on the walkway outside the Grand Hall.

The person was donning a slightly fluorescent green construction vest and was slowly limping back and forth with hunched back.

Its skin was dry and gray-brown, its neck was bent unnaturally, as if the head was hanging on the shoulder, seemingly ready to fall off anytime.

The left shin bone was skewedly protruding out from the calf, causing it to limp while walking.

A few steel bars were impaled into its body, which made a clanging sound when they collided with the wall.

It was a Zombie Beast.

Considering the name of the Instance, Ree Shil concluded this the very first moment.

Before the Zombie Beast turned to notice him, he retreated back.

And silently returned to his room, picking up two steel bars from the floor, holding one in each hand.

He wasn't adept at traversing eaves and walls, if he wanted to leave this place, he would need to knock down this Zombie Beast that was blocking his only exit.

"But... Would this weapon suffice?"

He once again weighed the steel bars in his hand.

Just now, he had seen that the steel bars didn't seem to inflict much damage to that thing.

After pondering, he decided to make use of the Cube Card.

This Instance was different from the former Rookie Instance, he could equip cards in here.

However, the equip limit was 1. And because once chosen, it couldn't be replaced, thus he needed to be extra careful.

"Let me check."

With a mere thought, he summoned the Card System Panel.

Now, he only had 4 cards in his possession.

[Wild fat cat][Iron stick]x2[Kung-Fu Sheep Lady]

The so-called equipment was not restricted to items only.

He first picked up the first card.

[Wild fat cat]: Make oneself plump

"What kind of garbage skill is this, wouldn't this make the Zombie Beast even fuller?"

This was just unbearably absurd.

PASS, let's check the next one.

[Iron stick]: Obtain an iron stick and boost self strength

The effect of this card seemed decent, adequately matching its effect of increasing 5 Attack Points on the Card Table.

Hold on for now, let's check the next one.

[Kung-Fu Sheep Lady]: Enhance hand-to-hand combat skills

Looking at its effect, this card undoubtedly lived up to the title of "Kung Fu".

"Both look good..."

He was a bit hesitant, but soon made up his mind.

It's always better to have overpowering strength, not to mention the additional iron stick.

So, it should be more suitable to equip the [Iron stick]in this Instance than the [Kung-Fu Sheep Lady].

Hums sounded!

The chosen card turned into blue light and drifted into his body, immediately he felt different.

"That's amazing, wow."

He clenched his fist to test, and realized his strength was at least three to four times greater than before.

With a thought, the dark black iron stick appeared in his hand.

The iron stick was approximately equal to the length of his forearm, its thickness, and weight were right for his grip.

This felt countless times stronger than using the rusted steel bars on the ground as weapons.

"This Instance from Level 1~5, shouldn't be too hard, right?"

After equipping the card, his confidence was significantly boosted.

Then, he tread lightly, and stealthily stepped out of the room once again.

By the time he reached the Grand Hall, the Zombie Beast was facing away from him.

"Let's start with a sneak attack."

Ree Shil gritted his teeth and dashed forward.

However, just as he raised his iron stick, the Zombie Beast seemed to have sensed his presence, and it turned around fiercely.

This time, he got a clear look at its face.

This guy's face was only one-third intact, the rest had irregular indentations, looking like it had gone through severe gnawing.

Its eyes were staring fixedly at him at this moment, emanating a light of excitement and bloodthirst.

Those eyes looked like they had discovered some kind of delicious food in the world.

[Roar!!!]

The Zombie Beast opened its mouth and let out a roar, a wave of revolting stench oozed out.

At this moment, he didn't have the time to think much, the iron stick in his hand had already smashed down onto the head that was loosely hanging over its shoulder.

Thunk!

Unexpectedly, it was just like hitting a watermelon, the Zombie Beast's head cracked open directly.

Thud!

The Zombie Beast fell down rigidly onto the ground.

Although he was originally aiming to defeat it, and also knew that this was only a projection Instance.
