-Third Person POV-

Alistair, Relna, and Eris found themselves on the tedious Patrol Duty, a requirement for Swordsmen at the Rank of Saint and below to complete every once in a while.

The Holy Land of Swords, with its unforgiving weather, made farming nearly impossible.

Instead, the residents relied on hunting and merchant supply lines for sustenance, creating a high demand for food.

Patrol Duty wasn't about hunting for food; a separate party handled that task.

Their mission was to protect the borders of the Holy Land of Swords, ensuring powerful monsters and predators didn't threaten the young and adventurous swordsmen or disrupt the local wildlife, which could lead to food shortages.

Typically, a 3-man patrol party consisted of Intermediate-ranked swordsmen with a single Advanced Rank Sword God Wielder.

However, this time was different.

It was a three-man party, and each member held the esteemed title of Sword Saint. The reason for this powerful patrol group was the sighting of a Snow Dragon in the area a week prior.

After three days of riding, they decided to set up camp and start their survey the next day. However, an uneasy feeling hung in the air.

"Err, I feel a creepy chill here nya... I don't think it's a good idea to camp here," Relna expressed her concern as she dropped her backpack on the chosen campsite.

Relna, a Beast Race girl with cascading brown hair, distinctive cat ears, a fit figure, and characteristically large breasts, appeared to be around 20 years old. She wore a modest two-handed sword at her hip and clothing made of leather and chain, seemingly unaffected by the cold.

Alistair, a human boy around 18 years old, with rough, curly blonde hair and a muscular yet not overly bulky build, seemed to have noble origins. He shared similar equipment with Relna.

Ignoring Relna's instincts, Alistair knelt down to start a fire, throwing an amused glance at Eris, the silent redhead who also deigned to ignore their partner's instincts.

Eris, around 16 years old, was a human girl with unkempt shoulder-length red hair, a physically fit figure, and large breasts.

She, too, carried a sword, and her recent duty had interrupted her training. A fact she was not all too pleased about.

"Grrr," Eris growled in thinly veiled irritation.

Alistair, reacting to her warning, quickly understood her unspoken message: "Don't talk to me. And definitely don't look at me."

Recognizing Eris's fearsome reputation, Alistair couldn't help but gulp. He thought, 'As expected of the Master Gal's Mad Dog...'

While Eris had become relatively more composed lately, her sudden duty, imposed under the threat of halting her training by the Sword God Gal Farion, had caught her off guard.

'For something this stupid!?' Eris thought, her frustration causing her to shatter a rock in her hand, making Relna yelp and Alistair gulp audibly.

It seems the threat of a Snow Dragon was of no concern to her.

Despite the tension, Alistair managed to light up a fire to warm them and cook the rabbit they had caught.

All three huddled closer to the fire, sitting on the melting snowy ground. As they put the rabbit skewers on the fire and waited for them to cook, Relna's worries appeared to be justified.

"Yo~!" a voice suddenly came from behind them, specifically behind Eris.

In an instant, Eris reacted, jumping and turning around with a sword swing aimed at the man's throat, a movement too fast for normal eyes to follow, intended to end his life quickly.

However, the man who had surprised them was far from normal. He deftly sidestepped Eris's incredibly swift slash.

At her failed attempt, Eris bared her teeth, ready to pounce at him with ferocity.

But before she could make her move, she saw the man raising his arms in surrender, causing her to momentarily hesitate and hold her blade.

"Woah, woah! I come in peace!" the man said good-naturedly, with a hint of nonchalance, his lack of concern evident from his easy smile.

However, the language barrier left Eris and the others baffled, and they could only respond with suspicion and narrowed eyes, mouthing, "What's he saying?/What language is that?"

Eris shook her head and thought on the more pressing fact of this whole ordeal, 'He dodged that... Dangerous,' as she narrowed her eyes at the peculiar man.

She was just moments away from attempting to kill him again at the danger he posed.

Alistair, the ever-diplomatic man, sensed Eris's intentions and the Stranger's universal surrender mannerisms.

He intervened, pleading, "Wait, Eris! Don't kill him... Can't you see he's surrendering? Also, look at him! The poor soul has been struggling!" He put his hand on her shoulder to stop her and shook his head, choosing a peaceful resolution over his recent fear of her.

Eris shook off the hand and took a moment to scrutinize the new arrival, attempting to gauge his intentions.

Alistair backed off as he and Relna observed Eris's judgment nervously.

The stranger wore barely any clothes, donning only the fur coat of a Luster Grizzly and oddly decorated undergarments. Standing at approximately 183 cm in height, he had snow-colored hair, and his eyes, the windows to the soul, were obscured by a pair of strange shades.

The stranger seemed to misinterpret Eris's evaluation, smirking confidently and flirtatiously while holding up his chin with his right hand.

His expression caused her to lower her guard, reminding her of someone she had met on her previous adventure with Rudeus and Ruijerd.

'He's like Geese...' Eris thought, drawing a comparison to her previous, good-natured but somewhat foolish temporary companion.

Confident that the man posed little threat at that, Eris had one last thing to check.

She requested, "Your eyes, show me your eyes," pointing at his eyes, or rather, his shades, with her sword still firmly in hand.

The stranger, seemingly confused, tilted his head and pointed a finger at his shades.

Eris repeated her request in growing irritation, miming the action of removing imaginary shades from her own eyes.

Finally grasping her request, the stranger took off his shades without hesitation, revealing his eyes to the three swordsmen.

Their jaws dropped as they beheld the most beautiful yet eerily unnatural pair of eyes they had ever seen.

In unison, they muttered, "Magic/Demon Eyes."

The stranger, unfazed by their reactions, started striking poses, his behavior eccentric given the circumstances and his clothing.

After a moment, the three swordsmen collected themselves and lowered their guard.

Their first impression of this man was that of a magic eye-wielding barbarian/jester.

Eris sheathed her sword and wordlessly signaled the stranger to put his shades back on.

He shrugged and complied, his body language radiating amusement, much to Eris's growing irritation.

However, Eris's interest in him had waned.

She thought to herself, 'Rudy has a Demon Eye too,' reaffirming Rudeus's superiority.

Disinterested now, she made her way back to sit beside the now-unfortunately burnt skewers.

Today had not been a good day for Eris.

With the oppressive atmosphere dispelled, Alistair, having noticed the language barrier, attempted to communicate with the stranger in all the languages he knew.

"What's your name?" he questioned in Beast tongue.

When the stranger didn't understand, he repeated the question in Fighting God Tongue, but received the same confused tilt of the head.

'No good, he doesn't know any of those languages. Not Human, not Beast, and not Fighting God... Maybe Eris could try Demon God Tongue? I heard she is fluent in it!' Alistair thought to himself

"Eris! Could you try saying something to him in Demon God Tongue?" He asked politely.

"Jump off a cliff." She said in Demon God Tongue, eliciting a tilt of the head from both Alistair and the Stranger.

Alistair surveyed the stranger's expression and noticed his similar confusion.

"Nothing huh... Relna! You know any other language maybe?" He tried

"No Nya!" She stated as she joined in with Eris to eat the burnt rabbit skewers.

Though for some reason, Eris was unusually close to Relna.

Disturbingly close.

"Well, sorry friend, it's no good." He shook his head apologetically, which the stranger could only nod in reciprocation.

The stranger attempted to communicate, pointing a finger at himself and adding:

"Gojo Satoru" He said confidently.

Alistair understood the intention and smiled in greeting.

"Alistair Wynrul, nice to meet you Gojo." He pointed a finger at himself, extending a hand to the now-named Gojo.

'Lacking in suffix... It's a completely different culture as expected.' Satoru couldn't help but muss.

He proceeded to shake Alistair's hand with a strong grip, a friendly smile firmly in place.

Gojo Satoru's first contact with the world's natives.
