A few minutes passed, and the three knights arrived back at the entrance of the cave, which had lots of branches and leaves and whatever they could find to start a fire with. Evander and Lachlan had already cleared this place out and arranged their sleeping quarters.
When the knights entered and showed the pile of wood, Evander said, "Let's build a fire for the night. Throw those pieces of wood in the middle." He gestured to an open area in the center of the cave.
Evander had suggested they rest for the night and return to the forest early the following day. The sun had already begun to set, and a distant roar of thunder brewed on the horizon. Given these circumstances, he reasoned it would be better for them to search and explore the following day.
