Soon, the whole room was left vacant, and all the elders went to work. Evander gathered what he needed and did a few things, but eventually, he could only ride out the next day. He would ride at midday the following day.
The whole basin, however, did not wait for that long; it seemed to come alive, more so than usual. The knights were rushing around, gathering, while even the civilians and laborers had taken up a duty to help and provide where needed. It was not until late afternoon that all was underway. Galen and Cael had taken two groups of knights and split up their forces to patrol the rides while the scouts and border guards remained.
