Teddy was overjoyed to return to school as usual after the break. He was first upset that his mother had purchased him a Huawei Y7 since he felt it was a waste of money, but she reassured him that it had come from her savings and he shouldn't be concerned.
The day before the schools reopens
Teddy picked up his phone and dialed Brian. "I hope he didn't overlook the fact that school starts tomorrow" .Teddy only memorized two numbers: those of his mother and Brian. Teddy struggled to make friends at school for the entire week because most pupils didn't want to be friends with him because of his low socioeconomic status. After a week, Brian was transferred to the school, and since then Teddy and him had been friends for three years, he was the only one to approach him and express his desire to be friends.
"I hope this idiot isn't sleeping, it keeps ringing, let me call him again." Hey buddy, how are you doing? asked Brian. "I'm good, bro, and you?" "I'm fine, dude, why are you calling me at nine in the morning?" "I missed you and was calling just to hear your voice." "Bro am I your girlfriend or what how can you call me this early just to hear my voice be prepared when I meet you you will pay for this I swear!". Teddy snickered. Bro, calm down. I was merely calling to ask if you had washed your school uniform because schools start the following day. Fortunately, my mother reminded me, "I did yesterday." Okay, I'll hang up now, but before I do, remember to wash your socks and put them somewhere obvious because you wore different-colored socks the last time. I should quickly get out of bed and wash them because otherwise I won't be as lucky tomorrow as I was the last time, thanks for reminding me buddy".
"You'd best do it or tomorrow will be your last day on this earth. You are aware of how meticulous they may be while inspecting the uniform on the first day after the recess, Teddy said. Brian took a deep sigh." Dude I know, by the way, when did you buy your phone?", he asked. "My mother bought it for me three days ago." Wow, you should kiss Maria in the cheek for me; if it weren't for her, I would have been expelled the following day. "Dude, stop calling my mom by her ID name or I'll kill you!". He giggled. Thank you for calling, and by the way, I missed you too, bye, Maria's son. Brian hung up the phone. Teddy remarked, "This bastard," as he placed his phone on his study desk. "Let me iron my school uniform so I won't be late tomorrow for my first day."
Teddy was really excited and prepared for school. He had his school uniform ironed and his shoes shined. "Let me go watch TV for the last time today because I'll be studying from tomorrow," Brian turned on the TV in the living room. He didn't particularly enjoy watching TV, but he was forced to do so because his mother was at work, he was the only child in the household, and he lacked friends in the area. His one friend, Brian, lives far away.
Teddy received a call from an ominous number while he was watching TV. I don't recognize the number, therefore it might be telemarketers. If it is a real person, they will call back, I wonder who is phoning me. Teddy kept his eye on the ringing phone. The number called once more after a minute. He stated as he picked up the phone, "let me answer, it seems like this person is serious."
"hello", said Teddy.
I'm glad you answered the phone, Teddy Williams?, the person on the other end remarked. "Yes, I am. May I ask who I'm speaking with?" "Hello, are you listening? I'm Mrs. Smith, your mother's boss, and your mother just fell down the stairs. There was no one home, so I'm not really sure what happened." Teddy remarked as he sprang up from the couch, "sorry yes, I'm still here, what happened, where is my mum now, is she okay?".Mrs. Smith said, "I have brought her to the private hospital (St. Gorge's), please come right away okay?, and I'll explain everything when you get here. "All right, I'm coming now,"said Teddy.
Teddy remained still, staring at the wall after hearing the shocking news while his body shook and his heart raced. Everything seemed to be a nightmare.
..
He lost consciousness for two minutes before slowly sitting down on the couch and breathing heavily. Is it true that she just said my mother was brought to the hospital? No no no no! Teddy repeatedly hit his ears with his palms in shock, "I think that I've heard wrongly," he yelled. "Let me go to the hospital right away." I can't believe what I just heard. He quickly walked to his room, got his phone, put and left.
Teddy was dressed in shorts, a white shirt, and black sneakers. Teddy continued to sprint to visit his mother despite the cloudy sky and frigid wind blowing in his face. Fortunately, the bus was waiting for him when he arrived at the bus stop where he had gone to catch the bus.
He stepped onto the bus. Speaking inaudible: (I just hope my mother is okay, God please protect her).
...
Teddy arrived from the hospital after 50 minutes. When he arrived at the emergency room, Mrs. Smith was seated in the chair. She held up a hand."Hey Teddy, come here!" Teddy approached Mrs. Smith up close. He asked, "Ma'am, could you kindly tell me exactly what actually happened to my mom." She exhaled deeply. If I said I knew what truly happened to your mother Teddy, I'd be lying. Your mother informed me that he had a stomach ache as I prepared to leave for work in the morning. "I told her that if she wasn't feeling well, he should go home because there isn't much to do in the house since I'm the only one left, my husband and my kids went on vacation and they are supposed to return tomorrow," she said.
"And what then happened?" "Knowing how obstinate your mother is, she insisted she was fine, so I left her in the house doing some chores, but then I realized when I got to work that there were some important files I left in my house that were needed immediately, so I had to go home, and when I got there, your mother was laying down close to the stairs, I think he fell."
Teddy took a deep sigh." what did the doctor say? "
She touched Teddy's shoulder and added, "the doctors are still inside examining her." "My boy, don't worry, your mother will be fine, she's a strong woman." Teddy tried to fight back his tears by looking up, but he was unsuccessful as they began to stream down his face. His shoulders shook as he wailed heartbreakingly. Stop crying, my baby, everything will be okay, Mrs. Smith murmured as she rubbed his back as she drew closer to him and gave him a hug.
