Chapter 86 - ~Popular~

In the alley a few buildings from the Whitecliff town's auction hall, Max stood in his signature white three-piece suit. He was also wearing white gloves and a white bandana to cover most of his face, just in case somebody saw him.

In his head, Samuel was so excited to finally see some Beyonder-on-Beyonder action that he began humming the tune of a song, that Max himself also began humming to.

♫ I've seen the devil~ ♫

♫ Down Sunset. ♫

♫ In every place~ ♫

♫ In every face. ♫

♫ Yeah, uh, uh~~ ♫

♫ Yeah, uh, uh~~ ♫

Soon enough, he saw a carriage pull up to the auction house and the lady he had seen along with the far old man got into the carriage. Moments later, they were followed by a bell boy bringing up a considerably hefty chest and putting it onto the back of the carriage, before getting on himself and sitting next to the chest, holding onto it as though his life depended on it.

♫ Tell me, do you see her? (Yeah) she's livin' her life (uh) ♫

♫ Even if she acts like she don't want the limelight (uh, yeah, uh) ♫

Max pulled out his gold pocket watch and confirmed the time before putting it away and grinning. The train to Desi Bay would be leaving in just a few minutes. Meaning he did not have much time to get from here to there as it was, never mind a chest of this size.

♫ But if you knew her (yeah), she lives a lie ♫

♫ She calls the paparazzi, then she acts surprised, oh~ ♫

But he had a plan, so he dashed out while using the newly recovered Unity energy from the Amalgamation of All to [Fool] the Beyonder's senses, sneak past her and cleanly arrived at the back of the carriage.

♫ Oh, I know what she needs (oh) ♫

♫ She just want the fame; I know what she fiends (oh) ♫

However, he could not [Fool] a normal person, and the bell-boy who was sitting outside at the back of the carriage had noticed Max and was just about to yell.

♫ Give her a little taste, runnin' back to me, uh (oh) ♫

♫ Put it in her veins, pray her soul to keep, ooh, ooh ♫

Unfortunately for the poor soul, one knife found its way into his throat, preventing him from saying anything, while another found its way to into the side of his head, killing him on the spot without too much pain.

♫ Every night (every night, uh), she prays to the sky ♫

♫ Flashin' lights is all she ever wanted (yeah) ♫

Max pulled back his knives and tucked them into his suit, careful not to stab himself. He had not gotten onto the carriage yet, and doing to would greatly alter the weight distribution of the carriage itself, and someone with enhanced senses like a Beyonder from the assassin pathway would definitely realise.

♫ Beggin' on her knees to be popular! ♫

♫ That's her dream, to be popular (hey)! ♫

As such, he simple placed a palm on the dead bell-boy, and another on the chest, and perfectly transferred the weight to the body, while making sure the body would not fall off anytime soon.

♫ Kill anyone to be popular (hm)! ♫

♫ Sell her soul to be popular! ♫

And with that, he pulled out the now weightless chest, and began running with it, as his Unity energy was still being rapidly depleted to [Fool] her Beyonder senses from noticing him, and her Beyonder abilities into preventing her normal senses from noticing him.

♫ Popular, just to be popular (uh-huh)! ♫

♫ Everybody scream 'cause she popular (hey)! ♫

Max continued running until he reached the same alley he was in before, where three lit candles were placed in an oddly drawn circle. Here he placed the chest and closed his eyes, and moments later, the chest and the drawn circle vanished, leaving only three extinguished candles.

♫ She mainstream 'cause she popular! ♫

♫ Never be free 'cause she popular! ♫

Max hummed the tune as he picked up the candles and ran along the silent night street in the opposite direction of the carriage, towards the train station headed to Desi Bay. By now, the train would have already begun leaving, but as all steam trains did, it would take some time to get up to speed.

In the meantime, Max took off his white suit, bandana, and everything else and sacrificed it, instead bringing down another set of grey clothes to look less like a rich prick and more like a normal upper-middle class individual.

Even the knives were scarified to the Amalgamation of All to prevent any evidence from ever being found.

Running out of the alleyway near the train station, Max continued running, but this time he had a top hat that he held onto while running, and a small briefcase, looking like the perfect example of a gentleman who was running late for a train, and not someone who was running away from a murder.
