Keir peered over the edge of the railing, his hands resting on the flimsy metal as he looked down. It was nearing daybreak, so it was dangerous for him to stand up on the rooftop for too long.
'I wonder what day it is.' He thought, as he hummed to himself, glancing back up at the horizon. He could vaguely see the figures lurking on the ground below, but he decided to ignore them.
After giving it one last thought, he turned on his heels, facing the other side of the rooftop. Still humming to himself, the young male made his way to the door. He glanced over his shoulder for a second or two, before he decided to shut it closed.
He skipped down the stairs, his fingers brushing against the railing every now and then. He jumped down the last couple of steps, as he found himself right in front of a door. Keir opened the door, stepping through.
It was a small room, not much larger than a bedroom. The flickering lights above him indicated the oldness of the room, but he liked it nonetheless. There were only a few reasons to that. One of them being that it contained books -a rarity for him- to keep him entertained, and another being that it kept him safe.
The last, and final reason, was the small window in the corner. Keir pushed aside a wooden chair, using it for support as he stood on it. He pushed past a box, revealing a small slimmer of light coming down through the rectangular gap.
He could see the sun flaring outside, and could hear the loud thuds of the ominous creatures roaming. Every now and then, his view would be obscured by a leg of one of those things, causing him to be oblivious to what was ongoing outside. Not that anything interesting was happening, though.
Keir looked out the window yet again, squinting his eyes. The absurdly bright rays of the sun fell on his face, causing him to wince. 'It's not usually this bright out at dawn,' He thought. 'I wonder if it means something.'
He shook aside the thought almost as soon as it came, disregarding it as just a bad perspective. He didn't bother to take into account the fact that along with the blinding light, that there were less footsteps from the creatures. He didn't take into account the fact that there were less yells and screeches coming from the beings.
He didn't take into account any of the signs.
