"Hello, Koriand'r. My name is Raiden, Raiden Kagawa," Raiden introduced himself.
Koriand'r smiled before responding, "I know. Noriand'r told me. As I mentioned, you can call me Kori. I heard you tend to drop the 'and'r' when addressing people."
"Is that a language thing, I'm guessing?" Kori asked.
"Yeah, kind of," Raiden replied.
"I want to thank you for your bravery yesterday. Not many people can stand up against the Citadel's soldiers, especially to protect others," Kori expressed her gratitude.
"No, no. There's no need. It's my duty. You all here took care of me and have been very kind. If I turn my tail and run away, then I'm nothing but a coward," Raiden replied, genuinely believing in his words. What kind of person would he be if he didn't help those who provided him with food, shelter, and a roof?
"I'm glad you think that way. I wanted to talk to you about this anyway," Kori said.
"About what?" asked Raiden.
"Well, I heard that you are from a planet very far away, outside the Vega star system," Kori mentioned.
"Yeah, I don't even know how to get home, to be honest," Raiden admitted.
"So, I was thinking, because you are going to stay here for much longer, I was hoping that we would receive your help. You are one of the few powerful people that can stand against the Citadel. Of course, if you wish not to, it's within your right! I mean, you are from a different planet, so Tamaran's problems shouldn't concern you," Kori spoke.
Other than her and now Raiden, no one from the remaining resistance soldiers could fight more than two Citadel soldiers. They were not only outnumbered but also outgunned. The Citadel had much more funding and more equipment in its military, having expanded for centuries, while Tamaran was only fighting to defend itself. Kori knew that the only way to fight the Citadel was to use unusual powers, such as the ones she gained from the Citadel's experiments on her.
"Of course! Yeah, I'll help. My powers are currently sealed, but once they're free, I'm going to do my best to support you for the time being. I won't promise you to stay here forever, but as long as I'm here, you've got my help!" Raiden replied, making Kori and Nori very happy. Of course, Kari was happy as well.
Kori grabbed Raiden's hand and started shaking it hard as she said, "THANK YOU! Thank you so much. Tamaran is truly happy to have your support, Raiden! Thank you so much!"
"Hey, hey, relax, okay? Thank me once we make a difference, okay?" said Raiden.
"Okay, I will!"
"I have to go now, but I'll be sure to come back and let you know what the resistance is planning and how you can help us," spoke Kori.
"Yeah, sure. Take care," said Raiden as he turned to Nori.
"Well, she's something, isn't she?"
...
One Month Later
...
"Og ot peels," Raiden spoke as the guard fell asleep.
He then looked around, scanning his surroundings before thinking, 'The command post should be the one up the hill. Invisibility magic won't work here since they've got energy scanners. Looks like they're evolving to my ways of fighting.'
"Gandr," said Raiden as he released a red magic curse directly at the sniper at the top. He turned to the other side and did the same, knocking out the second sniper.
He then started sneaking into the enemy camp. He saw someone getting close, so he threw a rock at the opposite side. The soldier turned, and Raiden grabbed him and snapped his neck. 'Looks like Far Cry wasn't over exaggerating with the rock thing, huh?'
Usually, the Citadel soldiers were much stronger than the average Tamaranian, let alone a human. So, he had to constantly use enhancement magic. With the effects of "Determination of Steel EX" active, he could break the human limits using this spell and skill combination. But he didn't want to risk draining his mana too fast.
'Okay, this is the command post. The info should be here.'
Raiden got in through a window, looked around for a bit before he found it. 'The blueprints! This will be very useful for the resistance. With this, their fortresses will be penetrable.'
"Ekam a ypoc." Using his magic, Raiden made a copy of the files. He couldn't steal it, or else the enemy would know that he has it and account for it. So he opted to copy it instead.
Raiden got out of the command post and escaped the camp, heading directly back home.
...
"We can't risk striking from the southeast gate! It will take too much time, and we'll risk reinforcement arriving. We have to take it down quickly! Our only way in is from the north gate," spoke Kori as she addressed her lieutenants.
"But my lady! The Radion Energy Cannons will wipe us out before we even get anywhere near the north gate!" spoke one of the lieutenants.
"That won't be much of a problem anymore," spoke Raiden as he walked into the command tent.
"Raiden! Did you get it?" spoke Kori.
"Yeah, here it is. The Radion Cannons are strong, but they have one flaw. They need to be charged every month! Here, look at this," said Raiden as he pointed towards the fortress's blueprints.
"Each cannon is connected with wires that lead directly to here," said Raiden as he pointed at the fortress's center.
"This is what allows them to charge it."
"This is amazing, Raiden! This gives us a solution!" said Kori. "We can finally deal a strong blow to the enemy!
"Everyone, prepare for combat. According to this file, they will charge it all day on the 17th of Korandi. That's 10 days from now. We need to transport equipment and manpower to our secret base close to Brandel. Get ready, everyone. Fortress Yuma will fall!"
The lieutenants all nodded their heads as they started making plans about their attack.
"Raiden, walk with me," said Kori.
"Yes, Princess," said Raiden as he followed Kori.
The two walked towards Kori's personal tent. As soon as they got in, Kori turned and surprised Raiden by jumping on him as she hugged him.
"THANK YOU! Thank you so much, Raiden! This is a great thing for Tamaran!" said Kori as she kept hugging him.
Feeling a bit embarrassed by the lack of self-awareness Kori had for her body, Raiden tried to ignore the fact that both her breasts were pressing on his chest as he said, "I'm just trying to be helpful to you."
"HELPFUL! Everything has gone much smoother with you being here. We were able to secure weapons, medicine, and funding, all because of what you've done in the last month! You are a lifesaver, Raiden."
H
earing her words, Raiden smiled as he said, "This is how you feel now. I'm curious how you'll feel once I get my original power back."
Kori got up and sat on her chair as she said, "Original power? You mentioned that before. I mean, what is it?"
Raiden smirked as he said, "Why don't we keep that a secret for now, huh? I'm going to go check on Kari; she probably missed me."
"You always evade the topic! What are you hiding, Raiden!" said Kori as she pouted.
"Don't think about it too much. We've got a fortress to take down!"
...
"Brother Raiden!" said Kori as she came rushing down from the stairs to jump on Raiden and hug him.
"How have you been, little devil!" said Raiden.
"I've been doing great! Uncle Doran gave me 5 stars on the exam yesterday! I came in 2nd in class!" spoke Kari.
"Oh really? That's amazing, Kari!" said Raiden.
"It would have been much more amazing if you got 1st place, though," spoke Nori as she walked out from her kitchen.
"I'm sorry, Mommy," said Kori.
"Don't feel bad, darling. You should strive to do better next time, okay? The past won't change, only the future will. Now go to sleep; it's bedtime."
"Okay, goodnight, Mommy. Goodnight, Brother Raiden," said Kari as she ran back to her room.
Raiden gave Nori a look before he went and sat at the table.
"What's with that look?" said Nori.
"Nothing... I just think you should be more lenient on her," said Raiden.
"I would be if we weren't in a war. She needs to do better so she can earn an important spot in the resistance. I don't want to see her on the front line with the rest of us," said Kori as she looked towards her scarred hand, remembering her deceased husband who passed away fighting the Citadel.
"I understand. It's just... I want to see her happy," said Raiden.
"Me too, and I think her happiness comes from reaching the top of her class. It's all because of your mago thing, that you're teaching her" said Nori.
"Magic? That's a good thing. She has the aptitude for it. She's going to be able to defend herself much more efficiently, putting my mind and yours at ease," said Raiden.
Nori placed the plates on the table as he and she ate dinner.
"You know, I just realized... were we acting like a husband and wife right now?" said Raiden.
"Get up, go to sleep now. You're old enough to be my son! Get up! I can't believe I was talking like that to you," said Nori, having a moment of realization.
"You got to admit it, it was fun, right? You liked it?" said Raiden.
"Out now, go to sleep! Don't even put the thought in my head!" Raiden laughed, and Nori followed suit as the two laughed about their weird dynamic.
