Bedwell threw the chessboard on the table between them:
"Have you ever played chess before?"
Lei willingly grasped the black and white pieces and placed them in their starting positions on the board:
"In my free time, I've played a few games with myself, but I only know the rules."
Knight had already picked up the chess pieces:
"Well, let's get started."
The man's attacks were aggressive, Lei couldn't even comprehend his tactics, and she was soon overwhelmed and completely defeated.
She exhaled heavily:
"Phew, I lost."
The man swiftly reset the pieces on the board:
"Continue."
Lei picked up the pieces again, this time trying to recall her opponent's previous traps and strategies. As he defeated her once more with a similar tactic, she started to gain some understanding.
Not waiting for him to speak, she had already reset the board.
In the third round, she managed to hold out for six more moves but almost saw through her opponent's tactics.
