Paul said coldly:
"You don't need to make excuses."
Alec said:
"At the age of five, my parents sent me to the church for further study. At eighteen, I put forth controversial opinions in the Holy Church that shocked the Fire Holders of the Sacred City. In the same year, I joined the Eastern Conquest Army as a military priest. At twenty-nine, I became the commander of the 7th Legion. At thirty-eight, I became the deputy commander of the Fire Holder Legion, and at forty-five, I became the supreme commander, until the war ended at the age of fifty-six."
"We killed countless rampaging monsters, but I never killed a single non-human intelligent being captured during the Eastern Expedition. Instead, I handed them over to the demon hunters, allowing them to determine whether the captured non-human beings were guilty."
Paul lowered his eyes; he didn't particularly dislike demon hunters.
