Usually elegant in demeanor, Tyler no longer cared about maintaining appearances, knowing Desiree's blood would stain his robe. Carrying Desiree's body on his shoulder, sorrow filled his voice:

"Desiree and I shared a bond deeper than brothers. He was a warrior who never abandoned honor, and even though he betrayed justice, he deserves a solemn burial."

Hewitt cooperatively chimed in:

"He was a formidable enemy."

Tyler looked at Hewitt:

"I hope you can grant me a favor?"

Hewitt seemed to have just heard this phrase.

Tyler continued:

"Please do not reveal what he has done. He has paid the price."

The White Lion Club had many deputies who had worked with Tyler longer than Hewitt.

They knew more about Tyler and Desiree's relationship, and should this incident be revealed, they would suspect themselves.

Although Tyler knew they weren't great people either, the fewer who knew about this, the better.

Hewitt replied:
