Bernita was in the kitchen helping her sister prepare the dishes and ingredients.
Even though Hewitt said she could live here indefinitely and asked her not to feel constrained, she still took on the household chores voluntarily.
The girl pulled out the beef from the bag and handed it to Tanya, cradling it in her hands.
Tanya took the chunk of meat and seasoned it with salt and black pepper.
"Bernita." Hewitt walked into the kitchen, holding a photograph in his hand, "This was found by your teacher Albert in your previous house."
Bernita took the photograph. It was a picture of her and her sister. She remembered it was taken at a photo studio where her sister worked part-time. In celebration of her birthday, Tanya took her to the studio and got it done at a very low price.
"Thank you, Mr. Lite!" Bernita expressed her heartfelt joy gratefully.
Hewitt patted her on the head:
"You should really thank your teacher."
