A young and handsome man was bound to a huge wooden cross, surrounded by a group of priests in white robes and several knights wearing silver helmets.
Outside the circle formed by the clergy, two rows of ragged farmers and villagers gathered.
They had never seen so many priests in their lives, and standing solemnly before the prisoner was the bishop of the city.
The bishop questioned:
"Which evil demon do you worship? Who sent you to bewitch the people of God?"
The man said helplessly:
"I've told you I'm a wizard, not everyone believes in God. If you must know, I can only say King Arthur. I believe in King Arthur. Are you satisfied?"
The bishop continued to ask:
"What is your purpose here? What treacherous scheme has the evil demon behind you instructed you to use against innocent people?"
