Cohen was waiting for their answers.
Inez spoke:
"Me."
Cohen asked, puzzled:
"What?"
Inez repeated:
"Me, I am that chip, as long as you can bring Lamont here, I can kill him."
In truth, she wasn't certain.
Although Pendragon has endowed her with immense power, she wasn't familiar with how strong Lamont could be, so she didn't have the confidence of certain victory.
Even though Pendragon had great faith in her, he had never really faced Lamont.
Before she gained her powers, she was already threatened by Lamont. Precisely because of this, she was painfully aware of how powerless she was back then.
She could not imagine a way to defeat him.
She never articulated anything akin to surrender, but she was actually quite clear. She had simply never voiced out her feelings, yet she had despaired time and time again.
Like everything else she had encountered, she never had a grip on her own fate.
