Cohen is a purebred Giant Dragon.
Even though his father wasn't a green dragon, he was at least a Giant Dragon. This was extremely "rare" among Shana's children. Uncertain whether she desired to experiment with the possible transformations produced from mixing different racial bloodlines, or it was just for fun, Shana's mating partners were all manner of strange creatures.
Humans, Elves, Godlike Beings, Dwarves, Giants, Dragons. These could have all seemed too mundane to her. For these races, whether it was shapeshifting to court one of their ilk, or forceful mating, she showed little interest.
On the contrary, she was filled with interest and enthusiasm for creatures that would make an ordinary person faint with fright. She even gave up the "dignity" of a Giant Dragon and performed actions deemed greatly discreditable in the world.
Her mate, Cohen's father, was an anomaly amongst his dragon brethren as well.
