Lamont squatted down and picked up a smooth pebble:
"I'm a very arrogant person. Do you know how pebbles come to be?"
Cyril replied:
"I'm not sure."
Lamont explained:
"Countless years ago, this pebble wasn't like it is now, it had sharp edges and was much larger than it is today.
"But then time..."
Lamont looked intently at the pebble, as if he could see its state from countless years ago:
"One day, the earth shook, and the heavens and earth were split apart.
"A crack appeared around the stone, and with the natural movements of the environment, a valley was formed. As the river washed over it, the sharp edges and corners of the stone were smoothed away bit by bit.
"Aren't we the same? Cyril, the environment shapes us, both you and I. You were born a noble, so you never had to experience the miserable suffering of ordinary people. And your family has a different way of educating you than others, which shapes you even more.
