Aiona mentioned that Professor Grant had once proposed to collaborate with Professor Hewitt on research, but now that she thought about it, maybe he had other reasons for doing so.
Kerry looked at silent Grant.
He suddenly spoke up:
"You don't want to discuss it here, do you? Let's go outside and talk."
Kerry nodded, glanced at Roxton and Richard, and motioned for them to wait there.
She took just one step to walk out of the room door. Grant saw this and just smiled.
He walked to Kerry's side:
"What's written in the diary?"
Kerry asked doubtfully:
"Don't you know? Haven't you read it?"
Grant admitted:
"He told me not to actively look at the contents of this diary until someone takes it out of the safe. I've been waiting for this day when Lamont could be relieved."
Kerry asked:
"Relieved?"
Grant answered:
"He instructed me to kill him before he died, to release him from the endless madness, to free him from this tragic fate and give him eternal peace.
