"I've discovered an elf, an ancient, powerful, wishful elf, named Tanvis."
It was a terrible day. I didn't catch the coach in the morning, ended up being late for the faculty meeting, and got sternly rebuked by the dean.
He told me not to even think about promotion to a lecturer position this year, and later, the principal scolded me harshly. This reaffirmed the dean's decision not to promote me next year either.
I really needed that money. The monthly salary of an assistant is only 30 pounds, while a lecturer has a whopping 100 pounds. If the rent wasn't going up, I could barely survive, but recently the landlord has often expressed intentions of kicking me out.
I have been an assistant for ten years. I know I am not a genius, or a graduate from a prestigious university. Those who started with similar conditions as me are either long gone to seek other opportunities or have already become lecturers.
