The door opened again, and Bartlett walked out of the crime scene with a relaxed expression, having made a full haul. Little Ghost, in order to avoid wasting the hard-won energy, returned to the Eternal Sleep Land to rest.
Waiting outside, the two demons glanced inside the door with somewhat strange expressions but did not say much. The three beings looked at each other on the street, tacitly keeping silent about the matter.
As long as the demons' chances for promotion were tied to him, they should continue to help him, Bartlett thought.
"Shall we head back now? Or do you want to do something else to relax?" asked the Thorn Devil.
Relaxing sounded like a good idea. "Since we have some time, why don't you show me around the city a bit?" said Bartlett. "It would be great to find a tavern. Any kind will do, even if they only serve the worst wheat beer."
