On this newly built altar, Cardinal Salome of the Serene Sect was drawing an Array with the blood of innocents. Around her, twenty-some other priests were assisting Salome in doing the same.
Beneath the ground, deep within the altar, it was constructed under Count Gisborne's mansion. The entire altar took more than a decade and a vast amount of materials to complete. Once activated, the altar would seal off the area surrounding the mansion, rippling the space around it, opening the Gate of Hell, and reaping the souls within its range.
By then, even if the Magic Association notices the anomaly, it would be too late to break the seal on the area. They would only be able to helplessly wield their pathetic skills outside.
