"Lost? Is that so? Your eyes are as fickle as the flames in your hand, Day-Walker." The White Spider Girl stared at Bartlett without expression. "That means you aren't confident in your own answers."
As she spoke, the swam of spiders crawled a step forward in unison, shrinking the space around Bartlett even more.
"Hey, keep it cool, everybody keep it cool!" He exclaimed, nudging the flame a bit closer to the canister of fire oil. "Believe me, impatience won't solve anything. If you're not satisfied with my answer, we can take our time discussing it." Damn, why am I so bad at lying to women? Bartlett silently chastised himself.
The White Spider Girl gazed at Bartlett for a long moment. She gently smoothed her long hair, and the spiders retreated back to their original positions, prompting a sigh of relief from Bartlett.
In contrast to his previous experiences, cutting his way out from this countless swarm would not be an easy task, even with the power of the fire.
