After reaching adulthood, Rupert worked as a farmer for several years, growing corn, potatoes, and wheat, but his specialty was growing tomatoes.

Eventually, he grew tired of farming and spent some time as an adventurer. However, Rupert was not particularly skilled in martial arts and had several close calls with death during his adventures. In the end, he used the money he had saved to bribe a minor leader in charge of city defense, ultimately becoming a guard in Trileaf City.
