After peeling the onions, Bartlett sliced them along the edge of the soup pot, letting them fall into it. He then took out a couple of apples, cut them into quarters, cored them, and added those to the soup as well. Once the apples were stewed tender, Bartlett used the ladle to mash them together with Mavila Fennel, instantly thickening and sweetening the soup.
If only he had some sour cheese as well, he thought, as he added a small pinch of turmeric and salt to the soup. The creamy soup carried a faint aroma of herbs, a slight sweetness of apples, and a unique, indescribable smell that came from the Mavila Fennel - a flavour cherished by the people of Takara in the Desert Kingdom.
"Just a little longer, and we can all have warm Mavila Fennel soup." Bartlett laughingly told his companions. "Please do help yourselves; consider it my small repayment for your kind invitation."
