The weary villagers were relaxing here with alcohol after working hard the whole day, engaging in low-key conversations with each other—sometimes discussing the crops they planted this year, other times envisioning golden harvests come autumn.
With such idyllic chitchat, a cup of common rye beer that cost two or three copper coins was more than enough to last them the entire night. If they could add a piece of cheese or a pickled cucumber, life would be perfect. And if someone had a side dish of cured meat and sausage, they must have won money gambling out in the fields today.
Alcohol is something appreciated by every profession. Adventurers crave it just as much as farmers, who are usually quite fond of it themselves. It can dull the mind, washing away one's worries, while also energizing the tongue and stimulating conversation.
