The servants of the ancient castle brought out plate after plate of dishes for the dinner.
Speaking of "servants," there were only four in total—the castle steward, the kind-hearted cook, a strange little boy who liked to snicker, and a young woman with freckles all over her face and a figure not unlike the cook's.
This young woman not only had a similar appearance to the cook, she even had a similarly hefty figure. Her whole body emanated a creamy, bread-like aroma. To Bartlett, she looked soft, sweet and plump.
Indeed, fitting two Hannahs into her would pose no problems at all.
As she served a plate of sliced veal sausages, the 'bread girl', right in front of them, naturally took two slices from the plate: one for the snickering boy, and one which she put in her mouth.
"How impolite!" The cook complained displeased, "Aren't there more sausages in the kitchen? Why would you reach out to take a guest's food!"
