It was a miniature, obsidian-black tombstone about the size of a palm. Bartlett took it out of his space ring and held it in the palm of his hand.
The surface of the tombstone was smooth and deep, carrying traces of cold that faintly numbed the palm. It was neither made of marble nor obsidian or black agate, and with Bartlett's knowledge, he was unable to discern the material of the tombstone.
There were several lines of small characters on the front of the tombstone stating, "Little Eve: New Magic Calendar 343 June 12th – 351 July 3rd"
Initially, Bartlett thought that Erlande carried this compact tombstone around as a memorial to one of his relatives or friends; however, that did not appear to be the case.
