Chapter 17 - Rolling in the Deep

[Library of The Fantastical]

Opening the door he is met by two green bikini covered breasts flaunting themselves shamelessly at him.

'Helix, what the absolute fuck!' His mind screamed.

The maid took a deep breath before posing seductively at him. With a wink  she walked away leaving him dumbfounded. As soon as she was out of sight, he slammed the door shut and tried to lock it. He leaned on the door trying to regain his composure. His hands were trembling uncontrollably from anger. A loud banging noise came from the door as if someone was banging against it.

Sim reopened the door to find Helix staring at him with a red face as he coughed.

"Wanna get some coffee?" Helix wheezed.

"So I can see you are busy," Sim responded.

"I am an adult so therefore I do not need to justify why I asked her to dress up in a bikini!" Helix shouted.

"I didn't even say anything!" He yelled back.

"Coffee is ready," Chara smiled.

Helix watched as she carried the pot over clad  in the green bikini as the maid. The girl smiled and giggled happily as Helix glared at Sim in disgust.

"Don't look at me like that! That was all I ordered!" He growled.

"You reminded me why I was here suddenly…" Sim paused.

"Oh?" Helix replied curiously.

Gawking around the library he thought about had happened  earlier than he expected. Looking down at his clothes he realized how filthy they must have been and started laughing. He looked around and caught sight of several empty cups scattered around with a few coffee stains here and there.

"I met the man fucking wth us, but I know its not his true face…maybe he see's this only as a game?" Sim thought.

"You gotta play it smart," Helix thought.

"I am gonna go mad if I have no else to talk to other than you!" Sim noted.

"Sim, stop!" He scolded.

"Huh?" Sim replied confused.

"I don't wanna hear about Della or anyone else who the world has already swallowed…you need to find other people to talk to!" Helix explained.

"But…" Sim muttered.

"It doesn't matter as we are stuck in this world and you need to adapt to survive and find others who can help pull you together cause you will get caught if you keep bugging me and my existence will have meant nothing!" Helix chided.

His words felt like a slap to the face . His voice sounded angry, and yet sad at the same time. He didn't know whether to comfort Helix or punch him in the face. After a moment he shrugged and sat down next to him on the table, which was filled with paper and pencils.

Sim stood up moving from the table  as Helix watched  him leave with a frown etched onto his face. He didn't know what to make of it.

"Sim, don't let him drown you," Helix stated.

Leaving the room the door quickly disappears  in surprise. He spun around and saw Caspar looking at him smiling widely.

"Why are you grinning idiot?" He snapped.

"Because I'm enjoying myself," Caspar grinned.

"Is there an event going on?" Sim asked.

"Not at all…but I saw weird notes stuck under your door," He smirked.

"Wha-?" He yelled.

Running down the hall and turning left he  stopped dead in front of his room opening it slowly. Standing in front of him was loose leaf paper noticeably torn from a notebook . Carefully taking the paper out he read the words written on them.

'You aren't alone…' They said in bold letters.

The handwriting was messy like a child had written it. It looked like he had scribbled them while holding the note in his palm. Sim sighed and placed the note on his bedside table.

"I guess that is good to know," He sighed.

He felt the world now felt more complex and had secrets he had yet to explore . His curiosity

was getting worse by each passing day and it made him feel uneasy. The feeling hadn't changed even though he had become more relaxed and comfortable with the members in the guild and their relationship was becoming stronger.

Sim ran out of the room down the hall to where the billboards were excitedly  buzzing with energy. He turned the corner and he noticed no one in the break room . Everyone was gone and he guessed they had headed out since it was afternoon.

"Oh...I will check the billboard," Sim cheered happily.

Scanning he looked around since he still didn't fully understand the board . Scanning around he saw an unfamiliar figure sitting on the couch in the center of the room with their head resting on the table.

"I guess I will take a random F class slip and go from there…" He mumbled.

Crumbling the first slip randomly from the F  class pile, he found a strange symbol drawn onto it.

'Is that supposed to be a drawing of a tree?' He pondered.

Stuffing the paper into his pocket he dashed out the door realizing the only person he saw was Caspar and the strange guy inside as he gawked at the address following it on the slip. Taking a step he felt he was brave by doing this alone , he turned the street corner to see a small office building. He glanced at his watch noting that it was now 5:00 pm and there were almost none people on the street. Walking toward the office he was greeted by the sound of children playing nearby, followed by the smell of fresh flowers and the sound of laughter.

Almost every human job was abandoned as everyone grew obsessed with the spiral dungeon that laid ahead. Even for the most experienced players, they wouldn't be able to complete this quest. If the map was real, then it would require some kind of skill to complete such a dangerous quest. As he approached the steps leading to the entrance he could hear a faint melody. He climbed the stairs and entered the lobby.

"Hello!" Sim announced.

Inside everything was a wreck . Pieces of glass littered the floor with many broken bottles scattered here and there. A young lady dressed in a white suit looked up at him surprised.

"Welcome to the Office Of The Rising Sun, we don't open for another week, so please take your time and find an office worker for assistance!" She barked.

"Oh, no I am here because of this slip on the billboard!" Sim noted.

"Right...I forgot about that," She laughed.

"Can I take this quest?" He asked.

"Yes," She nodded.

Taking the slip, he began making his way through the building until he reached his destination. He opened the door and a bright light flashed before his eyes. Once again he fell backward onto the ground as his body hit the dirt.

"That was too easy!" He chuckled.

[Note: Please equip before going on missions.]

Thinking about that gaudy pair of armor that he pushed to the floor he put it out of his mind as he wondered what  Roman and Isla were up to. He noticed an odd green twinge of color in his skin which indicated that he got infected, but he assumed in a fantasy world that isn't what is happening here.

"What should I do? Is it because of the fact I am an Earth rune type?" He whispered.

Sim felt like there was always one problem after another in this place and it wasn't helping him feel any better. He decided that there was something missing from being in this world and he needed to fix it. He took a deep breath.

"Hey, you are alive, isn't that a good thing?" He murmured to himself.
