Veronica POV...Being my parents' room, this chamber holds a special place in my heart. It displays an enchanting color scheme, embracing the serene hues of natural light purple. One of the aspects I adore is its ability to grant me a picturesque view of the treetops from the windows. Merely being present in this room has a soothing effect on my soul.Delicately tending to its cleanliness, I take my time replacing the linens and replenishing the fresh towels in the adjoining washroom. As I near completion, faint murmurs of Luna, Katrina, and Lara gradually echo through the hallway. Remaining absolutely motionless, I conceal myself within the confines of the room."I insist that you wear the red dress, Lara, the one that is elegantly slit on the side."I distinctly hear Katrina instructing her daughter."I am well aware, Mother. I will certainly make Alexander mine. The yearning to become a Luna has consumed my being for my entire existence, and now destiny beckons as I am destined to be the Luna of the Haethon Kingdom Pack."Lara responds with a determined conviction. "Your father hasn't been able to provide much insight regarding Alpha Alexander, aside from the belief that his preferred color is red and the fact that he has yet to find his fated mate. This holds great significance, my dear. It is imperative that you capture his heart. The Haethon Kingdom stands as one of the largest packs in the northwest, and such an opportunity may never present itself again."Katrina imparts a sense of urgency. "Do not fret, Mother. It shall be no challenge to ensnare his attention," Lara confidently reassures her. And in that moment, I knew her words were true. Indeed, no man has ever been able to avert their gaze from her captivating figure. With a sigh of relief, I realize that their voices are dwindling into the distance. Suddenly, Katrina's mention of the Haethon Kingdom catches my attention. Whispers of the Haethon Kingdom and its esteemed regard for omegas had reached my ears before. Stories of grand houses, sprawling roads, and their perch atop the mountains fascinated me.The people there are known for their remarkable kindness and hospitable nature. Alpha Jack, the late leader of the Haethon Kingdom, was a trusted confidant of my own father, Alpha Jeon, and renowned for his astute business acumen. Reflecting on this, I couldn't help but wonder if Alpha Jack's son inherited his father's benevolence. Nevertheless, I push these musings aside and continue with my cleaning duties. * The family members were gathered around the guest as soon as they arrived. Following orders, I went to the kitchen, but I had to go upstairs to spray perfume in the guest room. However, I lost sight of the guest room where Alpha Thomas, Luna Katrina, and Lara were engaged in a conversation with our guest. The guest's attention was not focused on me, but a stunning girl was sitting on his lap. Since childhood, I have always adored seeing children, often observing the children in our pack roaming around. I couldn't help but gaze at this girl until Sophia shook me out of my trance and brought me back to the kitchen."What happened, Sophia? I was going to spray the room upstairs," I informed her, showing her the bottle. She shook her head, took the bottle from my hand, and handed me some money."You need to go to the market now and purchase this item. We are running low on rice."I looked at her in surprise, then went to the pot and uncovered the lid. To my surprise, there was an ample amount of rice. "No, Sophia, we have as much rice as we make every day. Why are you cooking more rice? What happened to the expensive cooks we hired?"Sophia smiled. "My eccentric omega sister is our guest today, and you brought the amount of rice we cook daily. Now that we need more rice, you will have to buy it. Furthermore, where is the chef? The meal he was supposed to prepare has already been served and finished. We have to manage the rest ourselves."I glanced at Sophia. "Did they leave or did Luna drive them away, forcing me to work? She wants to witness my embarrassment. Well, I'll go."Without waiting for Sophia's response, I left. I knew she would give me encouragement, advise me to be patient, and ultimately dream of a prince and begin her work. * The weather today was remarkably pleasant, with light rain. Although I fear rain, I also find it appealing. I reached the market with two palace guards accompanying me, assisting with carrying the things. As I observed my surroundings, I spotted a rice stall where I used to buy rice. I patiently waited for my turn, oblivious to the curious glances of the bystanders. My attention then shifted to the neighboring stall, which displayed colorful earrings. Intrigued, I approached and started examining the earrings. A smile formed on my face as I playfully tried on different pairs, admiring myself in the mirror. Lost in my own world, I suddenly heard a voice from behind, and I entered the shop, still smiling. But she doesn't know; two eyes remain fixated on it. Those two eyes were following her. * At 10 p.m. When all the individuals had retired to their respective rooms, I found myself finished with my work. Sophia, along with her mother, was peacefully asleep in her own space. Fatigue had started to take its toll on me. Having tidied up the table, she turned around, only to have her eyes widen in surprise."It's already 10 o'clock. I should depart for home now." Gathering my bag, I exited the kitchen, passed through the guest room, and made my way towards the door, only to be called from behind.Luna Katrina's voice resonated with fear. I tightly clutched the bag hanging from my shoulder and obediently followed Jain, Luna's guardian. Upon entering the hallway, Luna approached me, causing me to instinctively recoil in fear. She firmly grasped my hand and drew me closer."What do you believe you are doing, Veronica?""What have I done, Luna?" Tearfully, I questioned her out of fear."What did you inform your uncle, insinuating this is my parents' room? How dare you question the master as a mere slave?" Her eyes burned with anger."I apologize. It will not happen again." I began to apologize, fully aware of my wretched state as an insignificant omega condemned to servitude."I explicitly stated that there is no room for errors. Do you not comprehend?" With her hand clenched in my hair, she added to the pounding discomfort already resonating in my head. With tears cascading down my cheeks, I pleaded for forgiveness from Luna."Please, Luna, forgive me this time," I begged before her."Forgiveness is not an option. Jain, confine her to the basement. She shall remain imprisoned until I decree otherwise, devoid of sustenance such as food, water, or any form of nourishment."The mention of the basement filled me with dread, prompting me to fall at Luna's feet. "I implore you, Luna, not to be there. I am terrified of that place. Punish me, but please do not lock me in the basement."Katrina maintained her smile, giving Jain the order to proceed. I continued to scream and cry, yet she reveled in seeing my misery. With that, Jain forcefully escorted me down the stairs and cast me into the corner of the basement, locking it shut. I cried uncontrollably, resorting to furious fists pounding against the walls while I shouted, but my pleas fell on deaf ears. Fear consumed me, intensifying the throbbing pain in my head until I finally succumbed to sleep, tears still wetting my cheeks.
