Chapter 44 - the Abyssal Black Dragon

On that occasion, a 3rd Order awakened individual had risked his life to capture footage. It showed a giant six-armed ape-like S-tier creature that was only about thirty meters tall. This creature single-handedly faced off against a modern army consisting of four armies totaling two hundred thousand troops.

These troops included well-trained and upgraded player legions, heavy artillery, four hundred tanks, and squadrons of fighter jets exceeding the size of two regiments. It was a coordinated ground-to-air joint operation with firepower capable of leveling any small country.

However, even so, under the continuous bombardment and the attacks of ten Tier-3 Awakened, that S-class exotic beast managed to slaughter an entire large safe zone in just five minutes. It was unstoppable, unmatched.

Heavy artillery couldn't penetrate its defenses, aerial bombs, and strategic missiles could only briefly impede its progress. It treated the steel torrents and machine gun emplacements as mere toys.

Tier-3 Awakened could only harass it collectively, skulking around its feet. In that battle, over a million people perished, the entire southwestern war zone of China suffered significant damage, and it was on the brink of being overrun by the subsequent zombie onslaught.

In the end, an unknown force deployed a low-yield nuclear bomb, severely injuring it under the relentless siege of the ten Tier-3 Awakened, forcing it to retreat. In less than a minute, the edited video footage left all players in despair.

The power of a Tier-4 exotic beast left no room for resistance. And the black serpent entwined around Clark's hand at this moment was of that level! Invincible!

If he signed the contract, the black serpent, no, the Abyssal Black Dragon, could be at his disposal. In this apocalyptic game, he could dominate as he pleased!

"Roar!" More than a dozen zombies gathered, swiftly lunging at Clark. Oblivious to them, Clark was immersed in shock, too apathetic to pay attention to these zombies. He moved slowly, like an elderly person. With his current injuries, he was unwilling to exert himself too much, as that would worsen his condition.

"Thud!" A light punch landed on the foremost zombie's head, instantly crushing its skull. Clark furrowed his brow; his strength had diminished significantly due to his injuries.

"Power surge!" A pale golden aura flashed briefly and disappeared into his body. He delivered a side kick, not as powerful as before, but still forceful. The zombie in front of him had its spine broken by the kick and writhed on the ground.

Other zombies had arrived and were frenziedly biting into his body. Clark let out a sigh.

Well, let them bite. With his current physical condition, regular zombies would need considerable effort to break through his flesh defenses. Not to mention, he had a slight immunity to infections. The zombies that could trap an entire building's residents now appeared to him like air.

"Arnold! Take some medicine and rush over here, take me back!"

Clark's thoughts were now completely focused on the Abyssal Black Dragon and the equipment that had returned. The Abyssal Black Dragon, wrapped around his arm, had fallen into a deep slumber after sending the message about forming a contract.

Otherwise, Clark believed that with an entity of this level, not to mention zombies, even a plaza full of The Licker could be wiped out in a matter of seconds.

Clark dealt with the zombies around him and concentrated his efforts on communicating with a dark golden contract in his mind.

"Form a contract!"

Chapter 37: S-Class Exotic Beast

"Ding, currently forming a contract with the S-class exotic beast [Abyssal Black Dragon]."

"Ding, contract successfully signed."

"Creature Name: Abyssal Black Dragon (Young)"

"Creature Rank: S-class (1st Tier)"

"Creature Attributes:"

"Strength: 20"

"Agility: 25"

"Constitution: 20"

"Willpower: 30"

"Creature Skill 1: [Dragon Shadow] - Temporarily doubles agility speed at the cost of stamina. (Upon reaching the juvenile stage, this skill will evolve into 'Wings of Death.')"

"Creature Skill 2: [Dragon's Descent] - Temporarily transforms into the next stage, gaining a +5 increase in all attributes and mastering the skills of the next stage. (Young - Adolescent - Adult - Mature - Complete - King)"

"Creature Skill 3: [Devour] - A unique talent of the Abyssal Dragon lineage, capable of devouring any creature or items containing spiritual energy, accelerating advancement to the next stage. Excessive spiritual energy consumption will induce petrification and slumber. (Current Stage: Young 90/100)"

"Creature Trait: [Dragon Soul] - As the rulers of the abyss, the Black Dragon lineage is immune to mental attribute damage within three times their tier and can absorb corresponding mental shocks into their own spiritual power."

Only first tier? Clark was somewhat surprised after reading the Black Dragon's attributes. He had thought that the Black Dragon was at least a third-tier existence!

It wasn't entirely Clark's fault for the misjudgment. After all, the Black Dragon had previously displayed power sufficient to contend with what seemed like a third-tier red-clothed mutant.

Furthermore, the key point was that with the talent's enhancement, it had reached at least the third-tier level in terms of speed. Doubling 25 would be 50 points in agility, which was even faster than third-tier abilities. As for its immunity to the mental impact of the red-clothed mutant, with the Black Dragon lineage's Dragon Soul, it was not only immune to third-tier mutant's mental impacts but also would likely be unharmed by fourth-tier ones. With such a talent, it essentially disregarded any mental attacks.

If Clark were to encounter Awakened individuals or mutants skilled in mental attacks in the future, releasing the Black Dragon would make it a breeze to deal with them.

Without their mental attack abilities, Awakened individuals or mutants were just durable punching bags. However, this revelation cleared up many of his doubts.

It explained why the Black Dragon had the strength of at least a third-tier being but let the mutant escape. The Black Dragon had indeed reached the limit of the first tier in all attributes, with its willpower and speed even surpassing Clark's current state by a considerable margin.

But it was still only first tier. If the red-clothed mutant had higher intelligence or relied on pure physical attacks, both Clark and the Black Dragon would likely have been easily defeated. Perhaps the red-clothed mutant was also deceived by the Black Dragon's speed.

As a mutant that appeared to excel in mental attacks, it would naturally use its most proficient method of attack when facing formidable foes. Clark couldn't help but sigh; he didn't expect the Black Dragon, even in its young form, to be so cunning. The existence of an S-class being was beyond his comprehension.

Although the Black Dragon was only first tier, it left Clark feeling a bit disappointed. It seemed that his hope of forming a contract with the Abyssal Black Dragon and using it to dominate the apocalypse had faded. However, it wasn't a big deal. If the Black Dragon really had such immense power, it wouldn't have considered forming a contract with Clark in the first place. Beings like that were akin to gods.

Although Clark hadn't yet figured out why the Black Dragon wanted to form a contract with him, he could only think of one reason: the Black Dragon must have sensed the aura of the [Skullcrusher's Hand] on him and wanted to "trick" the red-clothed mutant into obtaining the necklace before merging it with Clark's equipment. As for other reasons, he would have to wait until the Black Dragon woke up from its petrified state to ask.
