Melissa, who had been leaning on Augustus, chimed in, "Sir, Augustus holds quite a high position. If you're willing to escort us, what kind of requests can you make?"
Augustus, now more satisfied, nodded in agreement. Clark sneered. The government? Most likely, the government office had become the lair of zombies. According to his memories from his past life, there were at least ten mutated creatures in there.
Melissa, alarmed by the zombies' presence in the hallway, couldn't help but become anxious. "Augustus, maybe we should follow him?" she suggested.
Augustus's face darkened, but he eventually nodded. He had witnessed the horrifying scenes of zombies attacking people over the past few days. If it weren't for Clark clearing the hallway, he wouldn't dare to venture outside. As they watched Clark move further away, the two of them hurriedly followed, jogging behind him.
On the eighth floor, Clark pushed open the heavy fire door and saw that a dozen or so zombies were relentlessly pounding on the door of the central room in the corridor. It seemed that there was someone inside making noise.
Inside the room, a frightened couple huddled in a corner, and the door frame was about to break down from the zombies' incessant assault. A cheap wooden door already had a fist-sized hole in it.
"Craig, what should we do?" The girl asked with a trembling voice, her entire body shivering in fear.
Craig turned to look at her with a resentful expression. "You're asking me what to do? You, you stupid bitch, you came here to have sex with me even when you're on your period! Are you out of your mind?"
In his anger, Craig slapped the girl across the face, her face full of despair. Then, he followed up with a kick. After the zombies outbreak, he quickly hid in the room, locking the door behind him. According to Craig's observations, the zombies had only been banging on their door since yesterday, not bothering with the other rooms. It was clear that it was because of the strong scent of blood from the girl.
"Craig, you're not like this! You promised you would love and protect me," the girl, named Zoe, said with her last shred of hope, tears streaming down her face. She instinctively tried to find excuses for Craig, thinking that maybe he was just too scared.
"Get lost. If it weren't for you being a virgin, do you think I would even look at you?" Craig impatiently tried to make a phone call on his new smartphone, but it was futile. The phone was useless without a signal. Frustrated, he smashed the phone on the ground in a fit of rage.
This phone is Zoe had bought the phone through her part-time job.Craig told her the phone wasn't working properly and that if she wanted to stay in touch with him, she should buy him a new one.
In disbelief, Zoe silently sobbed, covering her face and letting go of Craig's arm.Zoe and Craig were college classmates. Craig had pursued her for a long time, treating her kindly and respectfully. She wasn't very confident in her looks and had never had someone be so good to her. Touched by his affection, she eventually agreed to date him.
Before the apocalypse broke out, Craig had persuaded her to go out, saying they were going to a private cinema. With little experience, she naively accepted. She never expected to encounter danger, and Craig's true colors had been exposed.
"Roar!" The zombie howled, its decaying arm reaching through the broken hole in the door. The young man's face was filled with fear as he stared intently at that grotesque hand. He couldn't wait any longer. Unbeknownst to the sobbing girl beside him, the young man suddenly stood up, his eyes gleaming with a menacing intent.
Craig pulled a small knife from his waist, the one attached to his keychain, and thrust it directly at Zoe's ankle.
"You damn bitch, you said you loved me, didn't you?"
Craig wore a wicked grin, and he replicated his earlier actions, using his foot to pin down the girl's other leg. He sneered, "If you love me, then die for me."
At the end of the corridor, Clark paused for a moment. He knew that there was a mutant zombie in this hotel, but he didn't know exactly where it was. This mutant was known as the "Bloody Witch" and was infamous for her brutal methods, even though she wasn't particularly powerful.
In the early days of the apocalypse, survivors in the entire LJ city would shudder at the mention of her name. The reason was simple: the Bloody Witch enjoyed torturing her victims, and anyone who died at her hands would endure unimaginable suffering.
"Do I have to clear each floor one by one to find her?" Clark murmured to himself, feeling somewhat helpless. Well, he decided to finish this quickly.
"Clang! Clang!" Clark strolled down the corridor, casually tapping the metal edge of the wall with his Nepalese curved knife. The zombies that had gathered in front of the door suddenly turned their heads, but surprisingly, only a few of them rushed towards Clark.
"Crack!" The door frame collapsed. Under the relentless pounding and scratching of the zombies, the room's door burst open, and a large number of zombies flooded in.
Inside the room, Craig held a small knife in his hand, his face contorted in madness. He grabbed Zoe's hair and paid no attention to her struggles. Blood flowed from his wrist as he stabbed directly at Zoe's ankle. "You damn bitch, you said you loved me, didn't you?"
Craig had a sinister grin as he pinned down Zoe's other leg, just like what was happening outside. "If you love me, then die for me."
As Zoe let out a scream, Craig tossed her into the midst of the horde of zombies. Not taking any chances, he delivered a brutal kick to her back. He had thought it through. When the zombies broke through the door, throwing Zoe into the horde would buy him some time.
Despair filled Zoe's face as the zombies tore at her clothes and flesh with their rotting hands. Skin was ripped away from her in a gruesome fashion. The horde paid no attention to Craig, who was cowering in the corner, and instead savored the taste of their fresh meal. Chunks of flesh were torn from Zoe's face, and she emitted a piercing scream of agony. Craig couldn't bear to look into her eyes; they were filled with intense despair and resentment.
Now's the time! "Ahh!" As if rallying himself, he let out a furious roar. His eyes filled with determination as he protected his head with both hands and madly charged towards the door, taking advantage of the zombies' distraction as they feasted on Zoe.
Two meters, three meters... Craig's decent physical fitness, honed through regular exercise, allowed him to break free from the encirclement of the zombies with a burst of adrenaline.
I've survived! Craig's face was filled with wild joy as he scrambled down the corridor.
With a swift stride, Clark efficiently dispatched the few zombies that had charged at him. His gaze turned icy as he watched the young man who had just burst out of the room.
