Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

My ride back home was peaceful. Lying on your bed after a long day is the best feeling and I truly missed the silence of my home tonight.

Initially, I had planned to spend the night at my parents' place and enjoy breakfast with them. But considering my parent's alcohol intake and the high likelihood of the party running late, both of them would probably need more sleep tomorrow. With an early morning meeting on my agenda that I simply cannot miss, I ultimately decided against staying there.

Although Montague Mansion was titled the most beautiful mansion in London few years ago, I prefer to live in my own little penthouse. My parents didn't want me to move out of Montague Mansion and kept on talking about how important it is to spend time with family and so on. While I do agree that family time is important, their place is quite far from my office and I value my time over everything

My modest penthouse sprawls across an area of 2500 square feet in the heart of London. It is perched on the 37th floor of an exquisite skyscraper constructed by Montague Enterprises.

The penthouse has a minimalistic design and I personally planned every single design and detail about it. My house is quite simple and doesn't have much rooms.

I moved into the house as soon as I returned to London after completing my MBA in Harvard Business School and took over the position of CEO at Montague Enterprises. It has been over 4 years since then and no one has ever stayed overnight at my place.

I do not like people staying for too long in my space and so my place only has a master bed room. I never felt the need to have a guest bed room and so never built one in the first place. Apart from the master bed room, I have a cozy entertainment lounge with a home theatre, and a wine cellar.

I enjoy cooking and paid special attention to my kitchen and dining area. It is adorned with white marble countertops and is equipped with top tier appliances. It also has a central island for casual dining. The dining room stands adjacent to the kitchen area and it boasts a sleek minimalistic design with a  £570000 chandelier.

My living area bathes in natural light that enters the space through expansive floor-to-ceiling windows. The windows offer a breathtaking view of my city's iconic skyline and watching the London night sky through it makes me feel as if I own the entire city. With clean lines and neutral colors, my living room is furnished with contemporary furniture and has a electric fireplace mounted in a corner.

An exquisite landscape painting by Elias hangs on one of the white walls of the area. The painting depicts a tranquil countryside with rolling hills and beautiful wildflowers. The canvas is a mixture of gold, deep blues and lavender. I went to an art museum few years ago in France and fell in love with this painting. I purchased it for a whopping  £750,000 right away and got it shipped to my apartment in London.

Although my living area is the most beautiful room in my house, the most spacious one is my home office. There are some days when I prefer to work from home and as the CEO of Montague Enterprises, I often have to work overnight. My home office is the exact replica of my office at the Montague headquarters which makes me more focused on work even when I work from home.

I lie on my bed and look at the sky outside through my windows. My day was packed with meetings from ten in the morning till three p.m. After that I quickly grabbed lunch at one of the Italian restaurants run by my company and went through some documents that needed approval.

Before I could take a breath, I had to rush to the Montague Mansion to attend my mum's birthday party and now that I am finally lying on my bed, my eyelids are signaling me to shut them immediately.

Although my schedule are always packed with this and that, today was especially tiring for me. Continuous meetings and then 'socializing' with people seems to have taken a toll on my body. I can feel my eyelids growing heavy and soon they are closing...
