Chapter 9 - Burst of flames

Jean sat on the edge of the bed, her expression relaxed and open. She genuinely seemed interested in getting to know Jagnar, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of warmth and comfort in her presence. They engaged in conversation for hours, their words flowing effortlessly as they discovered shared interests and exchanged stories. Jean's kindness extended beyond mere conversation—she even brought him food, treating him with a nurturing tenderness that made Jagnar's heart swell with gratitude.

As their bond grew stronger, Jean's protective instincts kicked in. When Scott interrupted their time together, calling Jean to attend to other matters, she simply shook her head and refused to leave Jagnar's side. With a determined tone, she insisted that Jagnar was just a young boy who needed care and attention. Her unwavering commitment to his well-being only deepened Jagnar's admiration for her. Scott found her behaviour odd, and ever since they came from the lake, she didn't seem to show interest in him. He couldn't help but feel jealous of the attention she gave to Jagnar.

Days passed, and upstairs in the X-Mansion, Charles, Scott, and Logan engaged in a serious discussion about Jean. Their voices echoed with concern, and their brows furrowed as they acknowledged something unknown and unfathomable power residing within her.

Charles, the wise and perceptive leader, warned them that there was something beyond their comprehension lurking within Jean. He emphasized the need to take action, for the safety of Jean and those around her.

Unbeknownst to them, Jean and Jagnar approached the room where the conversation took place. A sudden surge of thoughts and emotions bombarded Jean's mind, triggered by the words she unintentionally overheard. Her mental state spiralled out of control, and before anyone could react, she levitated in the air, her body enveloped in a powerful aura. With a burst of energy, she shattered the window and soared into the night sky, leaving a stunned group behind.

The team gathered outside, their eyes tracing Jean's vanishing figure against the moonlit backdrop. It became apparent that she must have heard their conversation, fueling her inner turmoil and prompting her hasty retreat.

A day passed, filled with restless anticipation, but Jean did not return.

Another day passed, and there was still no sign of Jean's return. The team grew restless, their worries mounting with each passing hour. Charles, Scott, Logan, and Storm gathered once again, contemplating their next move.

Charles's wise voice broke the silence, "We must find her. We cannot allow that unknown force to consume her completely. We must bring her back, before it's too late."

In a moment of realization, Charles recalled Jean's childhood home and recognized it as a potential refuge for her. Determined to bring her back from the brink, Charles, Jagnar, Mystique, Scott, Logan, and Storm embarked on a journey to find her. Their collective presence held a mix of worry, hope, and determination.

Jean's house stood before them, a quiet and unassuming residence. Charles told everyone to wait outside, and he wanted to talk to her alone. Then Charles went in alone, and he saw Jean sitting in the hall, staring at him. He approached Jean cautiously, aware of the volatile nature lurking within her.

From the sidelines, Jagnar watched intently at the house, standing on the road, while Charles was trying to reason with the powerful entity that resided within her inside the house. Everyone held their breath, waiting for the outcome.

Suddenly, the atmosphere shifted. Jean's eyes flickered with a fiery intensity, and her body trembled with unseen energy. Jagnar knew that the Phoenix was stirring within her, responding to the turmoil and conflict.

Charles, ever composed and determined, continued to speak to Jean with empathy and compassion. His voice echoed with a soothing tone, attempting to reach the human side of her, and anchor her amidst the storm.

Jagnar could feel the power radiating from Jean, an otherworldly force that both fascinated and frightened him. He watched as Jean's internal struggle intensified, her inner turmoil manifesting in the form of levitation.

With a burst of energy, Jean broke free from Charles control and pushed him out of the house. The front portion of the house was torn to pieces, and Charles was thrown on the road. Jagnar saw her levitating in the air, and she was shrouded in the orange gold coloured energy and her entire nerves were flowing with the same energy.

As Jean's hands radiated with intense energy, a powerful aura enveloping her, Jagnar sensed that the moment had arrived—the perfect opportunity to approach her. He could feel the weight of destiny pressing upon him, urging him forward.

With a swift movement, Jagnar closed the distance between them, his heart pounding in his chest. He could see the turmoil in Jean's eyes, the struggle between her human self and the immense power of the Phoenix. It was a delicate balance that threatened to consume her.

"Save me, I want to live my life." her voice low and distorting.

Ignoring the chaos unfolding around them, Jagnar reached out and gently clasped Jean's trembling hand. The connection sent a surge of energy through him, as if he had touched a live wire. It was both exhilarating and terrifying to feel the raw power coursing through his veins.

Suddenly, a voice reverberated in Jagnar's mind—a voice that transcended mortal boundaries. It whispered to him, guiding him with an otherworldly wisdom. It urged him to focus solely on the entity residing within Jean and to feel its presence with every fiber of his being. And then, it instructed him to do the unimaginable—to absorb it.

Driven by a mix of curiosity, courage, and a touch of desperation, Jagnar surrendered himself to the voice's guidance. He delved deep into the core of the Phoenix force, allowing its energy to flow into him. The intensity increased with each passing moment, with the energy pulsating and expanding around them.

Waves of energy surged through Jagnar's body, merging with his very essence. It was an intense and transformative experience, as if his entire being was being rewritten by cosmic forces.

Jean's trembling intensified as the brightness emanating from her hands grew blindingly bright. It was as if they were holding the very essence of a star, its scorching heat radiating through their connection. Jagnar's senses were overwhelmed, his entire being consumed by the searing energy coursing through him.

Slowly, the absorption process began. The entity within Jean relinquished its hold, yielding to Jagnar's grasp. The energy that had once surrounded them transformed into a magnificent spectacle—a colossal firebird, ablaze with unimaginable power. The awe-inspiring sight held everyone in stunned silence.

As the firebird soared higher and higher, defying the boundaries of the earthly realm, Jagnar and Jean became enshrouded within its fiery embrace. Their bodies merged seamlessly with the ethereal entity, their forms gradually fading into the luminous display. The energy intensified, crackling with unrestrained power.

The onlookers could only watch in disbelief as the firebird reached its zenith, touching the heavens. And then, with an explosive burst that shook the very foundation of their perception, the celestial creature vanished, dissolving into nothingness.

Jagnar and Jean were gone, leaving behind only the lingering echoes of their audacious act. The world stood silent and astounded, its inhabitants grappling with the magnitude of what they had just witnessed.
