"...Have I seen you somewhere before?"
Chu Mufeng asked.
It was the typical line a flirtatious playboy would use on a respectable woman.
With an expressionless face, Ming Ge responded, "Nope."
After a pause, she added, "You've mistaken me for someone else."
She perfectly demonstrated what it meant to tell a bald-faced lie.
She had, of course, met Chu Mufeng before.
Oh, certainly not in the sense that Chu Mufeng was an acting emperor, a public figure she knew of one-sidedly.
Nor that the two were in the entertainment circle and might have bumped into each other at some business banquet or on a film set.
Both knew very well that "having seen each other" meant privately and with memorable impressions.
But not memorable enough for Chu Mufeng to remember her—a minor figure unfamiliar to him.
Ming Ge thought: It's typical of you, Chu the acting emperor, to forget people. It's quite normal that you can't remember where you've seen me before.
