Chapter 10 - A Brightful Day in the Capital

Aran and Luka decided to spend the day strolling through the capital, enjoying the sights and sounds of the bustling city. They explored the charming streets, taking in the lively atmosphere that surrounded them.

Luka introduced Aran to his childhood companions, who warmly welcomed him into their group. Together, they roamed the capital's vibrant market square, marveled at street performers, and sampled delicious street food.

As the sun bathed the kingdom in its warm, inviting light, it felt like a perfect day for a leisurely adventure. Their laughter and camaraderie filled the air, and for a moment, all worries were forgotten.

The day unfolded with joyful moments as they visited shops, played games, and shared stories. The capital seemed to come alive with their presence, and the bonds of friendship grew stronger with each passing hour.

Amid the laughter and shared experiences, they stumbled upon a lost Beastkin child with cat-like ears. The young one looked both frightened and curious, having become separated from their family while their parents were shopping.

Luka, ever the compassionate soul, knelt down and comforted the child. He promised to help find the child's family. Using his Light skills, he gently illuminated the surroundings, searching for the mother's unique energy signature. Soon, the mother was located, her relief evident when she saw her child safe and sound.

Grateful tears welled up in the mother's eyes as she embraced her child. In appreciation, she removed a beautiful lion pendant from around her neck and handed it to Luka. "For your kindness," she said, "may this pendant protect you on your journeys."

Meanwhile, Aran had ventured into an unusual shop he had noticed earlier. The shop was filled with odd and eccentric items from distant lands. As Aran browsed through the eclectic assortment, he stumbled upon an old book with a map to a place unknown. The map intrigued him, but before he could investigate further, the shop's peculiar merchant approached him.

The merchant regarded Aran with a knowing smile and handed him an odd compass. "This compass will direct you to the location of your heart." the merchant said cryptically. As Aran looked up, the shop seemed to vanish into thin air, leaving him standing in the empty space where it once stood.

After their adventures in the capital, Luka and Aran were approached by Lyara. She insisted they visit Aran's home, despite Aran's initial reluctance. Luka, ever the peacemaker, begged Aran to agree. Reluctantly, Aran acquiesced, and they set off for his house in the outskirts of the kingdom.

In Aran's rustic loghouse, they were welcomed warmly by his adoptive mother. She insisted they stay for dinner, and they enjoyed a delicious home-cooked meal. After the meal, while Aran's father, Robert, was tending to some tasks outside, Luka approached him.

"So, you are the knight the king told us about," Luka began, his voice gentle. He inquired why Robert had left the capital and chosen a simple life as a lumberjack. Robert's eyes clouded with sorrow as he recounted the tragic battle against Agraba and his demons. He spoke of the sacrifice of his comrades, who had protected him from a fatal attack. In their memory, he had forsaken his knighthood and embraced a quieter life.

Luka placed a comforting hand on Robert's shoulder. "I'm so sorry for your loss," he said sincerely. Their conversation brought a sense of closure and understanding between the two.

As they prepared to leave Aran's home, a distant commotion from the capital caught their attention. It was the sound of alarm bells ringing and the clamor of people in distress. Without a moment's hesitation, they rushed towards the capital, their hearts heavy with concern.

Little did they know that their peaceful day would soon be disrupted by a new and unexpected challenge that awaited them in the heart of the kingdom.
