As she contemplated Jonas's question, little Phoebe timidly approached Christine nearby. The young girl's eyes sparkled with curiosity as she peeked at the book Christine was holding.
Sensing Phoebe's presence, Christine smiled warmly and gestured for her to come closer. "Come here," she said kindly, making room for the girl beside her. "Would you like to see what I'm reading?"
"Yes!" Phoebe nodded eagerly, her small frame practically trembling with excitement. She settled herself next to Christine, her eyes widening with wonder as she took in the intricate illustrations and unfamiliar words on the page.
Meanwhile, Jonas, noticing Ingrid's hesitation, smiled nervously and reached up to touch the nape of his neck.
"I apologize for my forwardness, milady," he said, his tone sincere. "I've gotten ahead of myself."
