Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Professor Flitwick's Jubilation

(Vote Stones Plz)

Madam Hooch was filled with despair. One girl was stranded in mid-air, and the other boy had completely disregarded her previous instructions and flown up to rescue her. It was the first time in her teaching career at Hogwarts that she felt helpless. She thought about reporting this to Headmaster Dumbledore and requesting an additional Flying instructor. Handling everything on her own was proving to be challenging. Just yesterday, she had heard about a serious incident that occurred shortly after she left, where two students had engaged in a reckless broomstick-related conflict. These successive teaching accidents had left Madam Hooch increasingly uneasy.

However, just as she was about to take a broomstick to fly up and help the two children, an astonishing scene unfolded before her.

Tom soared upwards, his broomstick whizzing through the air, drowning out the screams of the girls below, the admiration of the boys, and Madam Hooch's frantic shouts. He rapidly closed in on the already disoriented Padma and extended his hands towards her. Padma reached out for Tom's hand, as if grasping a lifeline. However, what neither of them anticipated was that Padma's broomstick suddenly jerked, causing her to lose her balance and fall from it.

Madam Hooch's heart sank as she saw Padma tumble from her broomstick. At that moment, a Hover Charm would have been the ideal choice, but Madam Hooch wasn't capable of it. The impact of a person falling from thirty feet in the air was not something her Hover Charm could handle.

During the brief moment of her descent, Padma felt as though time had slowed down. She hung suspended in mid-air for a split second before experiencing a sudden weightlessness. In that moment, her mind went blank.

She plummeted downward. Tom quickly adjusted his broomstick and followed closely behind. With a burst of speed, he caught up to Padma and grabbed her hand. However, he didn't immediately come to a stop; instead, he gradually slowed their descent, reducing the force of the fall bit by bit. By the time Padma was just a few feet from the ground, the downward momentum had been almost entirely dissipated, and she landed safely on the ground.

Padma, still trembling with shock, collapsed to the ground as soon as she touched it. Madam Hooch rushed over to them, her voice hoarse, "In all my years at Hogwarts, I have never seen students like you! How could you—"

"Please wait!" a voice interrupted Madam Hooch. She turned to see Professor Flitwick rushing towards them. Professor Flitwick had witnessed the harrowing incident from his office window. However, before he could intervene to save the day, Tom had resolved the crisis.

Professor Flitwick's office was located on the eighth floor of the castle and had a fantastic view. The room was well-lit, with sunlight streaming in from a large window, creating a bright and cheerful atmosphere. The walls were lined with bookshelves, neatly holding rows of books, likely totaling over a thousand.

Perhaps due to his personal preferences, Professor Flitwick's office was unlike a typical office and resembled more of a cozy nook. His desk was more like a low table, piled with stacks of parchment and an open book. A quill hovered over the book. Professor Flitwick pulled out his chair, sat down, and waved his wand, conjuring two cushions for Tom and Padma.

"Please, sit down. Miss Patil, don't be nervous. How about a glass of butterbeer to calm your nerves?" he said softly, conjuring three tall glasses. A yellow liquid poured out from the tip of his wand, filling the glasses halfway, with a thick layer of foam on top.

"Butterbeer!" Professor Flitwick said in a hushed voice. "Almost no alcohol, excellent taste, and it has a calming effect!"

He handed the two glasses, brimming with steaming butterbeer, to Tom and Padma, encouraging them to take a sip.

Seeing the expectant look in the Head of House's eyes, neither of them refused. They took a gentle sip of the magical liquid, which had an exquisite taste. Unlike regular beer, it didn't have a strong alcoholic flavor but instead carried a hint of buttery creaminess. After swallowing, a warm sensation filled their throats, dispelling the nervousness that had taken hold.
