"Damm brats, how many are left?" I cursed to no one.
I took ten of them down and felt exhausted after all this running around to finish work, school, and removing this man from the territory. Not to forget the lack of sleep. I wish Deo was here with me at least I can have a break. He is handling Regulus territory.
I took deep breaths putting my daggers back. I should take a break for now. My gaze lands on the bodies scattered around me. Some of them are unconscious while others are closer to death.
I was so lost that I didn't notice the presence behind me until I felt a movement behind me. I turned around and grabbed his hand holding the Knife. I almost died. Kicking the side of his abdomen I backed away taking my position. He rushed towards me swinging a knife toward me in a violent manner from right to left. He doesn't know how to handle a knife considering his unplanned hand swings or maybe he is angry.
Grabbing his wrist I pushed my dragged on his neck. He fell after a while. Getting my dragger back I walked away. I have a few cuts on my body. Mom won't be happy.
Someone grabbed me from behind restraining my movements and I felt a cloth pressed on my nose. Pretending to faint I hold my breath long enough for him to remove the cloth. Gulping breath I waited until for him to loosen his grip. Once his grip loosened I broke free from his arm and punched his nose.
He looks taken aback by it. He seems like a trained individual in stealth. His hand presses on his nose to prevent bleeding. I am at my breaking point and I will faint soon because I already smelt the sedative.
He pointed a gun at me causing me to stop my movements. Damm it.
"Come with me nicely or I will kill you right here." He ordered.
I rolled my eyes. "Who are you? And why do you want to kidnap me?" I asked ignoring his threat. He isn't one of the men I am taking down. His clothes and his approach hint at him being an assassin. But who ordered to kill me?
"Don't play games with me." He said.
"I think you should leave me alone because my people won't take long to find me out."
"You still think you have the upper hand here."
I did not get a chance to reply. The dizziness hit me and I knew well that I was late. Hopefully, Ronnie will notice my absence.
...
Waking up again I felt better until I realized I was in the unknown bedroom. Thankfully I am wearing the same clothes I wore before passing out. I don't have my weapons anymore. I gazed at the bedroom. It's very minimalistic, just a bed and a table with food on it. There isn't anything I can use as a weapon.
I rubbed my eyes. At least I was able to sleep for a few hours. Standing up I grabbed the bag of chips, checking the expiry date I munched them down while checking the surroundings. The door is, of course, locked. I checked the window and realized I am high up in a multi-storeyed building so going down would be impossible. Screaming won't work since this place looks abandoned.
Finally, my kidnapper got in with food with steam coming out of it. He placed it on the table and took a seat.
"Sit and eat." He ordered.
"Can I at least get your name?" I asked obeying his command.
Rule number one Act like a weak, give them the satisfaction of having the upper hand. Second, distract them so they can't think much rather than wondering why you are asking the questions.
I pressed the tip of my finger on the bowl and pulled away instinctively burning my finger in the process. I glance up to get an answer.
"Does it matter? You will die soon." He said.
"How soon? I mean you should have killed me when I was dizzy."
"You are asking too many questions."
"You can tell me after all I will die soon." I shrug.
"Finish your food."He orders annoyed.
"Underestimating me will be your worst decision." I grinned. He glared at me. I leaned forward gazing at him in his eyes then added with a flat tone. "One of us will die and I will be one to decide."
He pulled out a gun and pointed it at me, I raised my arms in surrender. So he has a weapon, no knives though.
"Eat bitch. I have no patience for brats like you."
"Alright man, I understand."
Grabbing a spoon I mixed the food. Out of all the things he gave me noodles with a slice of meat and I don't eat meat. And it looks undercooked. No matter what job you have at least learn to cook.
He lowers his gun giving me a perfect chance to execute step three, use something that can cause the most damage giving you time to escape. I threw the hot noodles right at his face causing him to scream in agony. I kicked the side of his face causing the gun to fall. I grabbed it and checked the bullets.
A rather convincing escape plan if you can fight but I am not here to escape. I am here to get rid of the problem permanently. I glance at the man who got rid of noodles from his face. His face turned red. I sat on the bed crossed my legs and pointed a gun at him. When he calmed down he noticed me.
"How much time has gone since you brought me here?"I asked with a smile.
"Six hours." He replied.
"Where is my weapon and phone?"
"I had them in the room outside of this one."
"Who paid you to kill me?"
"I don't know, it was from anonymous."
"Alright, then who do you work from or are you working solo?"
"Solo."
"Liar," I said tilting my head. His eyebrows shot up a bit. I am Very good at reading people. A flash of fear flashes through his eyes.
"I am not."
"Should I kill you?"
"I work for the Assassin Guild."
I nod. I didn't get any information that could be useful. Making sure he didn't have any devices I walked out of the room after knocking him out. Locking him up I got my phone and weapons. When I switched on the phone I got a call from Deo.
"Hello there. Are you done with your work?" I greeted him cheerfully.
"Are you okay, Jade?" His voice seems a little bit distressed.
"Yeah, I am fine."
"Something felt off Besides you are alone so I need to make sure you are alright."
A smile formed on my lips unknowingly. Some bonds are indeed special. No need to make him worried.
"I am fine. I made the worst mistake. Due to all this work, I wasn't able to sleep. I feel tired."I confessed since my family would be worried I couldn't tell them. Deo is a whole different person. He understands me well.
"How about taking the day off? I know the work is important but you need to take care of yourself. I will handle your work."Deo offered.
"You are already helping more than you have to. I don't want to be a burden to you."
"You aren't a burden. And I am happy to help, anytime."
"Thanks, Love."
"Bye. Let's meet up tomorrow."
"Okay, Bye."
I text Ronnie telling him I am fine. I text my men my location and the instructions. I left the building and called Ronnie to pick me up.
I can use that guy in the future. Either way, he is going to die.
