Chapter 18: Bonus Round II After baron drake an S-

Viscountess

"I told you, mortal!" The drake's voice was thick with amusement, though Lucian could hear the faintest edge of anger creeping into it now. "You cannot defeat me. You are already a pile of ash in my mind."

Lucian gritted his teeth, feeling his body scream in protest. He was running out of options, his energy reserves low, his body on the brink of collapse. He had to think fast. His lightning was proving ineffective, and the water was no match for the drake's fire.

Then, a thought struck him. The system had mentioned the drake's weaknesses—its molten body. What if he could turn its power against itself?

With a determined glare, Lucian pushed through the pain and summoned all of his remaining strength. He focused not just on his lightning or water, but on his divinity—the power of the Wrath of God still lingering in his core.

This time, Lucian didn't just aim for a direct attack. Instead, he combined all of his elements into a concentrated orb of energy—water, lightning, and divine wrath swirling together. As he formed the sphere, he infused it with the divine energy from his elemental connection, causing it to shimmer with an otherworldly glow.

"Take this!" Lucian shouted, throwing the sphere at the drake with all the force he could muster.

The orb collided with the drake's molten form, but rather than simply causing damage, it exploded in a massive burst of steam, electricity, and fire. The water within the sphere turned to superheated steam, expanding rapidly and forcing the molten scales of the drake to crack under the sudden temperature shift. Lightning arced through the steam, striking the drake's vulnerable joints, sending spasms of pain through its body.

Baron Ardorath Igris howled in rage, stumbling back as its molten body began to falter under the strain of Lucian's attack. The steam created a thick cloud, blurring the vision of both combatants.

"You insolent… little… human!" The drake growled, its voice laced with pain.

But Lucian wasn't done. He knew this was his only chance.

As the steam began to clear, Lucian charged forward, using what little energy he had left to close the distance between them. With a powerful surge, he summoned one final strike—a bolt of divine energy lightning infused with all of his remaining power, targeting the vulnerable parts of the drake's body.

The bolt struck true.

Baron Ardorath Igris let out an earth-shattering roar as its molten scales cracked apart, its body finally succumbing to the combined assault of water, lightning, and divine wrath.

With a final scream of agony, the mighty drake collapsed, its immense body crashing to the cave floor in a wave of molten lava.

Lucian, battered and bloodied, stood over the fallen beast, chest heaving. Sweat dripped down his face, his energy completely depleted, but he managed a triumphant grin.

However, the system wasn't done with him just yet.

Ding…

Host, the second part of the bonus round begins now.

Lucian groaned. "Oh, no… Not again."

Lucian stood up, brushing the dirt and ash from his clothing as he looked at the dark, smoke-filled sky. His chest rose and fell with heavy breaths, his body aching from the brutal fight against the Lava Drake. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting a small single tear fall with a smile

A bitter laugh escaped his lips as he muttered to himself, "System... I hate you your just messing with me beyond the heavens."

DING...

Host, there is no time for idling. The second part of the trial awaits.

Lucian groaned, rolling his eyes. "Ya, ya, ya, whatever. Let's get this over with," he muttered, walking deeper into the cave dungeon.

As he ventured further, the temperature shifted dramatically. A cold draft chilled him to the bone, the warmth from the lava-drenched part of the dungeon now a distant memory. His body trembled as the temperature dropped, but he quickly called upon his Black Fire ability, enveloping himself in an aura of dark flames that kept the cold at bay.

"Wait... why does this feel familiar? No... no, no, no, system—don't tell me tha—"

DING...

Host, welcome to the Temple of the Frost Wyvern.

In the distance, a loud, eerie seerchin echoed through the cave.

Lucian sighed, shaking his head. "Of course... A wyvern. This trial is designed to break me, isn't it?"

But he kept walking, pressing on despite the icy chill in the air. The freezing winds whipped at him as he traversed the winding paths of the cave, eventually coming face-to-face with a mountain-like structure of ice. Lucian stood before it, staring at the towering obstacle with a sense of dread.

"System, you really do like to make me run for my rewards, don't you?" he muttered sarcastically.

He sighed and began the arduous climb. The icy surfaces were treacherous, each step more difficult than the last as the freezing cold clung to his body. It felt like fighting a bull—exhausting and relentless.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of climbing, Lucian reached the top. He looked up, and before him stood a magnificent but terrifying creature—a massive Ice Wyvern, its wings spread wide as it guarded something in the distance. The wyvern's icy blue scales shimmered, and its eyes locked onto Lucian.

DING... DING…

Host, you have encountered yet another lesser royal dragon, a wyvern with ice control and abilities. This is Viscountess Polarix Icraius, a lesser royal.

She is a named monster with a 40% strength bonus.

Lucian narrowed his eyes at the wyvern, its presence exuding an undeniable aura of power. The creature's cold, piercing gaze never wavered as it let out a deafening roar.

DING...

Lucian clenched his fists, preparing for the fight ahead. He could feel the cold radiating off the wyvern, the atmosphere around him growing colder by the second. This wasn't just another trial—this wyvern was a force of nature.

The system continued its explanation, its calm tone contrasting the intensity of the moment.

Before he could make another move, the wyvern roared, its massive wings flapping, sending a chill through the air. The ground beneath Lucian began to freeze over, ice spreading toward him with alarming speed.

He summoned his Black Fire again, using it to melt the ice beneath his feet, but it was clear—he was facing a monster with far more power over this environment than he had. The battlefield was entirely in her favor. Lucian needed to use every ounce of his wits and abilities to overcome this trial.

"Let go" Lucian said
