Investing in Second Uncle was essentially letting his own family make money. Peter Brown also understood Second Uncle's intention, and thus, he didn't let him own too many shares. Anyway, he wouldn't interfere too much regardless of how well or poorly things went. At the same time, it provided another source of income for his parents, so they wouldn't have to worry about money.
By now, Peter had a fairly good grasp of the situation in this Group company. It was a provincially-owned enterprise where even leadership appointments came directly from the Provincial Government House. This meant that if he could become the company's CEO, he might even be able to directly enter a government department and continue to advance his career.
If he really did make his way up in such a company, it could well become a path to officialdom.
