In Diana's view, Finn Lewis taking in her and her daughter was a grand act of charity. She dared not hope for anything more but was completely content with the prospect of Finn taking Grace in as a maid to serve him. How could a maid possibly sit alongside her master?
"Diana James!" Finn's face darkened as he interrupted her, speaking up.
Finn's stern shout startled Diana so much that she nearly knelt down, and even Grace was taken aback. "You, stand there, Number One, come in, take Grace up to the deck to play, I have something to say to her." Finn urged hastily, a bit exasperated. He was really afraid Diana would kneel, which would undo all his previous efforts.
