As Lucy Watson had said, the enemy obviously wasn't aiming for this location, but rather for those four planets. These vast numbers of warships were likely to land on those four planets, and it was to be feared that the enemy's hidden tactics lay within. In other words, whatever was inside had to be extremely important; they were waiting for Finn Lewis's forces to be fully trapped before proceeding to their destination to accomplish their goal.
By the time Finn Lewis and his team had figured out the outcome, there was no way to interfere with the enemy. According to their estimates, even if Finn Lewis forcefully dispatched troops, the forces sent out were likely no match for the enemy. In fact, this was indeed the case; with only the strength within the fleet and unable to utilize the Gene Warriors, Finn Lewis simply could not send more soldiers to the front.
Even if troops were dispatched, they would decidedly be no match for the enemy.
