Although there are many types of clothing materials throughout the federation, it is no different than on Earth where the raw materials for these clothes are naturally quite cheap. The price a general supplier can offer and what a luxury merchant can fetch are two completely different stories.
And for clothing, it's not just for the rich, commoners wear clothes too, so the raw materials aren't going to be too expensive. Even the best of materials would only cost a bit more, but there's a limit to how expensive it can get.
"Just give me 30,000 star credits." Emily said somewhat sheepishly. As for the girl beside her, she almost cried out, "My god, you're such a crook!".
