Indeed, the size of the port is finite, and there remains another difficult issue. When it was originally constructed, nobody could have predicted the port would turn out this way. None would have thought that Floral Island would be lifted about twenty meters high due to an earthquake. Therefore, both the docks against the shore and those stretching out into the water, used for mooring warships, are now at least twenty-five to six meters above the water surface.
Not to mention that all the parts of these structures adjacent to the water are vertically extended. To utilize them would require enormous reconstruction work. On the positive side, the airport was unaffected and is ready for use. As Floral Island has been lifted, the lowest part of the encircling coral reef is around thirty meters above sea level, indicating the internal Lagoon Expanse will become an even better shelter from the wind. The surrounding ring is essentially a natural breakwater.
