The next day, Devon got to work pretty early and dropped a note on Zara's desk before going into his office and burying himself with work. When Zara got to work, she found the note and read it. By the time she was done reading it, her face was red. The note read:
"My Beloved Zara,
I couldn't help but notice that you weren't yourself yesterday and even though you said there was no problem, I knew there was something. I want you to know that you can always tell me anything. We're together now and I'll do all I can to protect you and take care of you.
In order to cheer you up, I planned a date tonight at my house. It might not be a 5-star restaurant but I promise you that you'll have more fun than at any public place. So Miss Zara, if you are willing to go with me on that date, come into my office immediately after reading this note."
Zara smiled as she folded and dropped the note back on her desk. She walked towards Devon's door and gave three gentle taps.
"Come in beautiful," Devin called.
Zara opened the door and saw her man behind his desk, looking at her with a big smile etched on his face.
"How did you know it was me behind the door?" She asked.
"I could feel your presence, my love," Devon said as he began to get up from his seat.
She looked in his eyes and saw the same sincerity she had seen there the previous day. It was then she realized how much she had fallen for him and knew that nothing was ever going to break them apart. After placing a gentle kiss on her lips, Devon then asked,
"I'm sure you got my letter; what do you say?"
"I'm in your office, aren't I?" Zara replied with a smile on her face.
Devon flashed a smile at her and after agreeing to when he'd pick her at her home, Zara went back to her office. The rest of the day went well for the both of them. At close of work, Zara left for her home earlier to get ready for her date night with Devon. At exactly 7pm, which was the time Devon agreed to pick her, Zara heard a knock on the door. She quickly adjusted her dress and hair before walking to the door. She took a deep breath before opening it.
"Hey," she said, flashing a smile at him.
Devon stood there dumbfounded. He was mesmerized by her beauty and couldn't keep his eyes off her.
"H... Hey," Devon managed to say.
"You...you look amazing, beautiful even," he added.
A blush covered Zara's face as she thanked him for the complimentary words. Devon handed her the bouquet of flowers he got her saying,
"Flowers for the most beautiful woman I've ever seen; these flowers can never outshine your beauty."
Zara welcomed him in as she took the flowers and placed them in a flower vase. She grabbed her purse and said,
"I'm ready to go."
Devon took her hands in his and they both stepped out of the house. Devon opened the passenger door for her and after Zara had settled down on the passenger's seat, Devon went the other way and got in on the driver's side. He started the car and drove out of that street. Few minutes later, he was driving down the road that led to his own mansion. Soon the car came to a halt and Devon got down from his side and helped Zara out of the car.
He led her into his mansion, which he had decorated himself. Zara was impressed by everything.
"You did this decoration yourself?" She asked.
"Well, I tried," Devon admitted.
"I love it but you didn't have to bother," Zara said truthfully.
Devin pulled Zara to himself and stared directly into her eyes.
"You deserve all these and more. I'm sorry I couldn't take you to a fancy restaurant. I'll do so once we're ready to show the world and tell them about us. But I pulled this off for you because you're the only woman in my life and in my heart and I love you like crazy, Zara. I got to bed every night thinking about you and I wake up doing the same. I just want you in my life forever because I don't think I'll ever be a complete man if I don't have you in my life, Zara," Devon said.
Zara's eyes teared up and before the tears could fall down her cheeks, she quickly wiped it off.
"I love you too like crazy, Devon," Zara confessed, smiling really hard.
They locked lips and had a long kissing session before breaking out.
"Let's get to that food before it gets cold; I know you must be starving," Devon said with a smile.
He led her to the dining table and soon served dinner. It was Mac and cheese with some steak on the side and a bottle of the best wine. After the food had been served, the couple dived into munching every bit of the meal. After they were done with the meal, Zara thanked Devon for the meal and complimented his great cooking skills. She offered to help with the dishes and once they were done with that, they moved to the living room where Devon had already picked a movie.
They began watching a romantic movie and 30 minutes into the movie, they were both distracted. They had their lips against each other; the moment was intense. Zara began to slowly lift Devon's shirt up. Devon broke the kiss and looked into her eyes.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
Zara replied,
"I haven't been more sure than anything in my life before."
Devon smiled as he reconnected his lips with hers. He got up and carried her, her legs wrapped about him as they headed to his bedroom.
