Aurora's smile immediately disappeared, and she quickly pulled away from him. "That wasn't funny," she said, placing one hand over her racing heart.
"Who said that was a joke?" he said, his lips forming a smirk. "I was being completely serious. Your smile is enchanting; it makes me want to taste your blood."
Aurora's eyes widened. "You...you said you don't feed on human blood. Was—was that a lie?" she stammered.
"But that's the thing," Azrael said, leaning closer while she leaned further back. "You are not human…Remember?" He said, his eyes piercing into hers; he could hear her heartbeat quicken, which caused his grin to widen.
