Aurora tensed, gripping the knife tighter as she mustered the courage to confront the intruder. "I am warning you, stay away from me," she demanded, her voice wavering between fear and determination.
"Relax, I just want to talk." He held up his hands in a show of surrender, but the easy smile on his face did nothing to reassure her. In fact, it only made her feel more uneasy.
She stared him down, her voice quavering as she struggled to hide her fear. "Talk about what? How you are going to kill me? All this while you have been following me around, lurking in the corners, waiting for the perfect opportunity to feed on me." She glared daggers at him. "Unlucky for you, you underestimate me, and I won't let you touch me." Her voice was loud, deep down hoping her parents, if they were close by, would hear her and come to her rescue.
