Aurora and her parents were guided to the town square by the guards. As they walked, they observed other families being ushered out of their homes into the square. The townsfolk huddled together, their faces etched with fear and confusion. The night air was cold, and people moved about, clutching flame torches and lanterns, casting flickering shadows that intensified the tension as everyone tried to make sense of what was about to happen.
Aurora's brow furrowed as she stared at some houses that had been destroyed, with people picking up what was left of the rubble. Some were crying as the lifeless bodies of their loved ones were being dragged by other guards. "What happened here?" Aurora asked, her voice shaking.
The guards remained silent, their eyes fixed straight ahead. John, however, looked at his daughter and spoke softly. "We don't know, but something tells me it has to do with the vampires. They must have caused all this damage when they attacked the town."
