The wooden box was over a meter long and about half a foot wide and tall. The whole body was reddish and faintly marked with several black stripes; the texture was clear and vertical. A sniff revealed a slightly sour scent. Holding it in his hand gave a very heavy feeling.
There were no other decorations on the wooden box, just a large red ribbon tied around it. The ribbon had a complex knot but surprisingly easy to untie.
Zheng Qing simply pulled on the end of the rope and the entire ribbon easily fell off the box.
He looked up at Su Shijun with some uncertainty.
The witch nodded her head encouragingly, as if encouraging him to open the gift.
With a light sigh, and a twinge of excitement, the public pay-student pried open the lid of the wooden box--which was quite different than he had imagined. He thought such a heavy box would have a sturdy lid. But, akin to the ribbon, it opened quite easily.
He was even more surprised by the gift inside the box.
