Unlike the majority of students in the university who operate on a day schedule, Dylan, as a creature of the night, usually began his classes in the evening, and spent most of the daylight hours in his pitch-black coffin.
On one hand, it reflected the school administration's considerate management; on the other hand, it was a choice made out of necessity for non-pureblood night creatures: compared to their pure-blooded relatives, they were obviously more susceptible to sunlight.
Of course, this did not mean that they could not walk in the sun. Dylan could also run and jump under the scorching sun, and use magic. It's just that sunlight made him feel exhausted quicker and made it difficult for him to concentrate. For students who deal with tasks requiring a lot of brainpower every day, this state was clearly not conducive to learning.
